Wtf happened to Barnett? Wasn't he supposed to be the premium ruck of his draft class?

Ruck/talls take longer to develop Seaby , Lycett are some examples..
No point being too impatient just have to let them grow and develop ..

14. Jobe Shanahan (Richmond)

Bendigo Pioneers/Allies
Tall forward, 195cm, 2/8/2006
Talent League stats (avg): 12.9 disposals, 8.5 contested possessions, 2.1 goals
The Age’s August top 30: 21 October top 30: 17 November top 40: 14
Agility test: 8.77 secs 20m sprint: 3.1 secs 2km time trial: 6:39 mins

The Tigers’ hunt for Jack Riewoldt’s successor leads them to Shanahan, who kicked goals at every level he played this year. He is a strong runner, an excellent field and set-shot kick, presents in the right areas, is a smart judge of aerial balls and makes good decisions. Shanahan can play down back, too, which only adds to his appeal.
If not: Richmond might instead go for Jack or Matt Whitlock, the latter of whom can also play at both ends and is a late riser for many clubs as the draft approaches.

Jobe is the sharp end of our picks IMHO, injects a McGovern like marking ability and administers a Hunter like swingman we have been sadly missing.

All in all, getting him is the shot in the arm we needed.

Can see him giving nightmares to Amiss for years to come (although it’s not like he looks like he sleeping well now).

No way you chose to spell it like that, wild!

Hopefully we haven’t pulled the trigger yet on Allen’s mega contract extension. His knee is going to be an ongoing issue by the sounds.

The article everyone is frothing about is rehash of a 6 month old article and known information.

With his knee it's not the knee as is that worries me, it's that when he jumps as the ball and in packs he doesn't protect himself and often that leads to very worrying landings.

He needs to jump and lead at packs with one leg raised and both knees bent. If he doesn't make this change I'm very worried he will have more knee injuries and in particular another major one.

Of the two younger higher profile key forwards I think if we're to send one to the backline it should be Archer and tbh I'd start training him there now.

Huge score with Jobe escaping Essendon.
Some sweet "right under their noses" retribution for Nic Martin.

With how well Shanahan went for Essendon in the VFL, I thought they'd be salivating at having another great FF. (Yes they got Kako, but Jobe is better)
Could be one of the next great forwards so I hope we play him there.

Still can't believe we actually managed to snag this bloke with the picks we had. The more I read about him and look into it the more i scratch my head.

Helps that Tigers and a couple others let him slide all the way up to our 2nd selection, their loss is our gain buoys.

Keen to see how he goes for the Beagles, looks a natural key forward. Would love if he was a few cm's taller, hopefully he shoots up a bit more with his late'ish birthday.

Haven’t seen too much off him but he seems to have a great reach for his height and sorta floats in the air when he’s taking a high mark. Two real good signs of being able to playing bit taller than he is
