Tough to call him stake knives but once upon a time Crisp at the pies was just that

We will need to give something valuable away, & Hopper/Taranto as defensive minded mids essentially takes his spot
Ok triple premiership player George then

Taranto out of contract, should get him what we paid for Prestia (pick 10 point-wise).
GWS would get a future first compo pick for Hopper if he left as a RFA in 2023. Our future 1st rounder plus 19 with a later picks from GWS to balance would be fair.

Richmond pick 12 and 30 for Taranto and pick 39
Richmond future 1st and pick 19 to GWS for Hopper and pick 59 and 2023 3rd rounder

Richmond 12,19,30 + 2023 first round pick to GWS for Taranto, Hopper pick 39,59 and 2023 future 3rd.

Why all the swaps of late picks, 3 first round picks for the two of them and a salary dump should get it done.

Should we look at griffin logue? No gun but might be handy

I originally would have said no, as his goal kicking is/was dogsh!t when they moved him forward...

However over time he has improved, and if he keeps that trend, it would be a replacement for Jack (no, not anywhere near as good, but structurally important).

GWS won't use late picks so they are worthless to them. Worth something to us. Cheap, free, bit of trade work for the giants, makes us happy.

Smart clubs do things like this so that future dealings are easier. Dodo does things like force trades for picks he won't use - coz he's an idiot who mistakes "toughness" for intelligence.

Freo arent a great team to trade with, they will ask for over the top prices and play hard ball on a lot of their players leaving.

I'd stay well away especially while we still need to secure Taranto & Hopper.

Might be better to deal with if Peter Bell does leave for Norf.

Can see Richmond trading pick 12 & 30 for Taranto and pick 39 (GWS might play hard ball on pick 30 though)
Can see us giving up our 1st rounder next year and pick 19 for Hopper. (as he is contracted)

GWS this year will then have picks 3,12,19,21,30,57,59. This isnt even including what they get for Bruhn and most likely Hill if they are traded too.

I can see GWS wanting future picks. Are we able to somehow package something for another teams 1st rounder next year? If they lose 4 players this year to trades they will need to use 4 picks this year not including any picks required to replace delisted / retired players.

If its a player trade then yeah id keep away but if there is some way we can trade picks with Freo, we might stand a better chance. Freo are about to have a large exodus of players so they will be on the receiving end of multiple picks coming their way. I know they will have to cough up to pay for Jackson but you would think Lobb, Logue & Acres would give them some kind of currency.

GWS might package up a few this year to get into next years draft...

Will Lions need picks to accommodate Ashcroft...?

I could see on draft night some live trades happening for the bears to try and save their round 1 selection...

Something like:

Before the first pick
GWS trade out 19, 30, 57, 59
In Exchange for
Brisbane 15, 69

Brisbane match first selection on Ashcroft using all the above picks as points

Then
GWS trade 15 back to Lions
In Exchange for
Bris Future 1st and future 2nd

Means GWS have 2 first rounders this year and next year
Brisbane get both Ashcroft and first round pick this year

The values might be slightly off, but this is close to a win / win here for both clubs

Can't trade the same pick back to the same team (15), plus any picks used in bidding get pushed to the back of the draft where those picks remain live and a player has to be taken

I think it was 2020 when a team traded 19 for a future 1st, might have been last year too, which would value 19 as a pick 15-16. Which really means us giving GWS our future 1st and another future 1st from the pick 19 trade for Hopper assuming they're happy with 12 + 30 for Taranto.

So, yes, they'll likely move 19 into next year and you would think they'll be chasing future picks for Bruhn and Hill but don't have to get Brisbane involved

Pick 19 and next years first way overs.

Dunkley is better than Taranto
I think the difference is Dunkley is rarely, if ever going to go forward when the game is on the line and win it for you off his own boot by kicking multiple big goals. Taranto has and will. That ability, for me puts him ahead of Dunkley.

Grahams best is very good but I reckon I could count on one hand how many times hes genuinely influenced a game. Hes a defensive mid in a midfield that still gets cut to pieces. Outside of his GF heroics who else has he done a defensive number on? Hes still young enough to have currency. If we land Hop and Tim well win so much of the ball there'll be no need for a specialist defensive mid.
Agree but geez Graham would have been handy against Brisbane last week to put the shackles on one L. Neale. Could have been the game right there. Valuable player who does the unfancy stuff. Starting to wonder where he fits in tho if both Taranto and Hopper come across. Would GWS want him? That's the question.
