Our problem was, while we dominated hitouts, we lost clearances. Our midfield system does indeed need a tweak. We should be fixing that with new assistant(s) next yr on top of 2 gun mids.

Couldn't agree more, we've been tactically mediocre at some very puzzling stages of key games in the last two years.

People have short memories. Taranto has won a BnF in a grand final team and becasue spuds like Coniglio can’t play anywhere else he has had to move out of his preferred role. I’d have Taranto ahead of Dunkley as an overall player. Dunkley would have been a great get as well.

Reckon in the end, luck with injury may well be the deciding factor in who has the better 2nd half to their career, there's little to split them at this stage, IMO.

I'm hoping Taranto has more upside and if I had to make a call on longevity, Dunkley's shoulders worry me more than Taranto's past issues.

Hopefully both have long careers.

Ryan has so much Liam McBean/Gourdis hype for mine.

Ultimatley guy was a late pick who has gone ok in the VFL and is probably a 20% chance of playing 100 games. Hope I’m wrong.
McBean was a 200cm small forward though. Reckon Ryan has more substance to his game.

I also think our development today is way better then in 2012.

Ryan can take an overhead mark; McBean couldn’t

Again not hating on the kid and if he makes it he will take a few years and won’t be a part of any premiership push this team makes.

His VFL stats are ok at 12 touches, 4 marks and just over a goal a game. Feel like it’s a massive step up to AFL level and he will need to be dominating VFL before you could consider him being a second option at AFL level.

If we get Taranto and Hopper, the whole AFL will hate us and be even more against us. We will need flags because they will try their best to stop us and make fun or us for the whole 7 years .
let’s try and get 2-3 flags at least
will be epic if we pull it off

I'm looking at the players.

Myth.
Richmond premiership player AAs (whether for us or other club)
  • Rance
  • Martin
  • Cotchin
  • Houli
  • Edwards
  • Lunch (with GC)
  • Riewoldt
  • Grimes
  • Bolton

GWS AA
  • Cameron
  • Greene
  • Whitfield
  • Kelly
  • Haynes
  • Shaw
  • Shiel

Richmond AA squad players
  • Brandon Ellis
  • Caddy
-Lambert
  • Prestia
  • Vlaustin

GWS AA squad players
  • Ward
  • Coniglio
  • Scully
  • Treloar (Collingwood)
  • Hopper

They had a pretty good list for a team that won no flags. I know AA and AA squad isn’t the be all and end all, but would be curious to see how many St Kilda around 2010 had, compared with GWS 2015-2019

There is no denying that they were jam packed with elite talent. They were either poorly coached or had shit attitudes/heart

Thanks mate. Now we will end up not getting BOTH and panic trading Liam stocker in instead

None of the above.

You can't fake culture.

They are not a real club with a real culture yet. Playing in front of 8,000 people each week vs 60,000 is not the preparation required to win a flag. The club is like a simulation. It has all the aspects of a real club, except its not

Fair enough if that's what the stats say but I stick to what I said, Taranto is a more damaging player. I'm not looking to debate it. Dunkley is a fine player but I will be very pleased if we sign Taranto. He has XFactor as well as matching Dunkley defensively imo

It would be interesting to know how many times he has kicked two in a game.
Agree that Taranto is the better player as tigers know that Dunkley runs 12.5-14 kms per game while
Taranto runs a elitev14-15.5 kms per game.

Dyl and Friends with David Astbury. He is already talking about Taranto and Hopper like they've signed.
