Slightly disappointed that we didn't get a pick back for giving up 12 & 19.

I reckon what held up the double trade is that we didn't want to trade our 2023 1st rounder. So if it is a player & a pick for Hopper then it would have to be someone decent.

GWS need more outside speed, a number 1 ruck or KPP. So likely to be a player like Soldo, Miller or Hugo.

HRS + 2nd might get the deal done. Would hate to lose Hugo though as he improved a lot in 2022 and still has a really big upside.

Soldo = GWS NO 1 ruck? Soldo can't get a game for us. They already have Preuss. What does Soldo provide that Preuss doesn't. Both C grade rucks. Plus theyve got 3 other players for ruck depth. Briggs. And they're starting to use KKPs as ruck back up.
Davis went round again So they've got Aleer, Davis, Taylor and H'burg played KPD this year. Riccadi is a bit hit or miss, and Hogan.
TBH they don't need that much. George & Aarts if anything
They'll get 50 more first round draft picks for TT, JH.

I don't think SOldo is a world beater, but he is easily more effective than Preuss... And the lack of games Preuss has played as supposed #1 ruck is alarming... If you don't think Soldo adds something to their team then I'm not sure you know their list that well

If the only way to get Hopper is for Soldo to leave then that's fine. Our ruck stocks are good with Nank, Miller, and Ryan. Rucks are also very easy to poach from other teams.

So, if Nank goes down, you are ok with Miller as first ruck? Hmmm, I’m not. And young Ryan, yep, got the potential to do the job but pretty unproven.

My point is that rucks are a dime a dozen and easily replaceable. Gun midfielders are not.

Look at Brodie Grundy, one of the best rucks in the game who is contracted and Collingwood are still trying to get of him.

post knee Soldo has been terrible, slow and totally lacking athleticism. I know some reckon he’ll get his mojo back, but not too sure that happens. Trade him now while there’s a suitor

At his best Hopper is an absolute beast inside, people obviously havent watched much of him

In 2021 he was injury free and and averaged 26 touches and 6.5 clearances. Literally exactly what we need.

Soldos best is in front of him. Only hindsight will tell us whether letting him go was the right move

Tarranto, deBoer, Hill, Stein, Sproule. And probably Hopper, Bruhn, Callaghan.

I live in NSW so see Giants FTA every week....I'm no list manager but they've got 4 guys on their list who ruck. A contracted Preuss and are using mobile KPPs quite a bit.

You see the big issue there right...

Pruess IS ALREADY the #1 ruck, and he only played 10 games... and not all of the missed ones where injury or suspension...

Soldo as #2 ruck, played 13 games, and if he was our #1 ruck, he plays 22 games barring injury...

And if they are interested, it means they don't think much of their other options

I'm not saying they don't have rucks, they just don't have any good ones.

Soldo played nearly every single game this year as a 2nd ruck so that's not an apples and apples comparison. Even pre ACL Soldo and Nank pretty much split their time 50/50 ruck and bench. He'll go up another gear if given the opportunity like a lot of fringe rucks do when they move on.

But they've still got 3 contracted rucks. Preuss No 1 when he can stay on the park & Flynn is a No 1 ruck too. Briggs and Keefe, All of whom got games this year. Then KPPs

I maintain that Soldo as more of a need for us cos if Nank goes down we'd have Miller/Ryan/Balta. Ryan's been going well but....

Yeah, I'm with you. Soldo doesn't make a huge amount of sense to me for GWS. Hopefully they don't agree

We all see what happens to our midfield when Prestia gets injured, these 2 help mix that in a major way. A long time weakness of ours is now a strength.
