Taranto was a number 3 draft pick
He is exactly the type of player we would be targeting with a top 5 pick except we would be needing to wait 3 - 5 years at a minimum before they would have an impact

& that’s with the assumption that we pick up a decent player who works out
Plenty of top end mid prospects never work out anyway
taranto - Pick #2
Hopper pick - #7

Just out of curiosity where do you believe Richmond would be without Taranto & Hopper if we never got them to the club ?

We would have 2 more kids that may or may not be any better than RCD / Dow
and in 2024 had a team of kids running around getting smashed for the next 10 years and becoming the next Carlton

How is Carlton going with all the top picks they had
Dow , LOB , Kemp , Philp , Cunningham , and even before that Kreuzer , Gibbs , Walker , Murphy etc

They very well could be a team between 4-10 for the next 5 years and have McKay , Curnow , Cripps , Kennedy , Hewett all at the same age as our older players because they dont know and have never know what its like to be a winning team

We took 5 kids the year before and another 5 this year and could very well get another 2 in 3 weeks time
How many more kids do you want in the team

And by that stage Lynch Dusty Grimes Vlaus are all gone

And wait 4 years for him to become the player Taranto is ( Maybe)
When Bolton, Balta, Short, Nank , Rioli will be gone and Sonsie, Clarke, Gibcus and co will be heading towards the tail end of careers

Shouldn’t of got Taranto, should if used the picks to draft a kid like Taranto

Absolute madness

we haven't been able to develop mids for ages anyway, better to find em elsewhere. if we tank for drafting top mids atm we will just end up being shit for 15 years

100% if we did have a top end pick I would prefer we go for an elite tall anyway
Higher risk but greater reward and much harder to find via free agency

Taranto needs to mirror what Dan Jackson did and slow down his thinking a bit and not rush his disposals. I get he is not a great kick but some of handballs have terrible.
Yea he’s clearly been told to handball more , as you say sometimes they’re too hot , a quick kick would be much better , hopper is a much better kick

We’ve recruited two blokes on massive deals and done everything to allow them to succeed , including to the detriment of some premiership stars and emerging talent .
⏰ will be the judge , but it’s very very ballsy move that will heavily influence contracts into the future including Dimma’s .
Personally won’t surprise me if we see a massive amount of players explore their options at seasons end, shall things continue as they are .
prestia , dusty , bolton , Baker , short , Sonsie , Ross , Graham May all consider offers elsewhere .

No they won’t. What a ridiculous notion. Ross will go but meh. But none of those others will

You’re kidding yourself if you think a proud person will spend years of their life buying into something ( culture) / earning their stripes including on less coin for two blokes to waltz in and change everything .
Our midfield being completely upturned to suit Taranto and hopper at the expense in particular of Prestia / Sonsie / Bolton / Dusty / Graham won’t be lost on the players and if you think it will you’ve not experienced team sport at a real
High level .
Butler / Higgins / Ellis and even Markov going elsewhere and getting greater opportunity will only give players further confidence they can exceed elsewhere.
Not much point being seen as a club that welcomes players if also seen as a club that does so at the expense of its own

Like when Lynch came? What a load of shit and yeah I’ve played team sport at a high level.
