God damn I want us to get that 17th.

And I reckon Mick's the man to get us there. Loved the conference, and loved "I want the playings standing beside me, pushing forward, not behind me"

Welcome to Carlton Mick!

Welcome to the club Mick.

I see you share my liking for 'journalists' so we may just have some fun in the next few years.

I like how at the beginning the journos wanted to do their usual muck raking, Mick destroyed them and then got to saying the stuff we were hoping to here. He won't take their crap.

Seems we've clear quite a lot of players and potentially assistant coaches, in anticipation of his signing. Hopefully he can put his immediate stamp on our club.

Welcome to Carlton, Mick!

Made the right noises, was a real presence with the media. Showed respect and appreciation for the club having given him this chance. Wants to teach the players to get the best out of themselves, rather than talking about kicking their arses. Right approach on day 1. Singled out a few Carlton players he has coached at International level as outstanding people.

I'm not going to be a hypocrite here. When he was at the Eagles and Collingwood, many of us would have a laugh at his bizarre media quotes and things like the Milne incident. We don't want to suddenly pretend he is perfect just because he is at Carlton, and I'd imagine Collingwood supporters would be roundly levelling the hypocrisy accusation at us if we did. All we can do is recognise he did well at various times at the clubs he was at and take him at face value from here on in. It's about the Carlton Football Club after all.

I understand why some Collingwood supporters would be peeved at the moment. We would be too.

Having said that, a good start, best of luck Mick.

Nobody can tell me that after watching that press conference that Mick isn't excited about coaching us next year. The fire clearly is burning. Loved the way he shut down gutter journalists like Tony Jones.

Seriously, why do the media give a stuff about when Mick and the club first spoke? What difference does it make? And why would they think he would reveal any private conversations he had with the club during the year. Mick is too smart for that shit.

Loved it when he said: "I don't want people standing behind me, I want them standing beside me"

Watching him in the media you can see he speaks well and is knowledgeable about the game but when his game face is on you can just tell there's only one reason he coaches and that's to win flags.

Listening to Ratt's on SEN this morning, I love his manner and professionalism and I still cringe when I think about how he was treated. But there is no denying there's an aura about Malthouse that very few coaches have, he oozes class and success.

Let's do this.
