Toast Welcome to Collingwood - Taylor Adams

Going off the highlight package on Adams from our website it seems we have found a goal kicking midfielder that can kick straight and on the run from on or outside 50m. Something we don't have a lot of!

If he can give us 25-30 goals a season that's a great result.

Agree the goals streaming through 50 look good and he seems like a good straight kick but has only kicked 12 goals in 31 games.

Not an overly impressive strike rate of 1 every 3 games; hopefully he can increase this at the Pies.

His strengths are his in and under, not his outside running.
Thought the highlights package was pretty ordinary to be honest.... Focused on the things he's not overly renowned for rather than what he is.

Think Selwood without the cheating tendencies :thumbsu:

Luke Ball mach 2. By getting this kid we allow ourselves to pursue skillful outsiders in the draft.

JT and Adams should have us covered in the clearance department for awhile, time to bring in some x-factor players with good skills and pace.

With Daisy gone we don't really have anyone on the list like that anymore.

Considering GWS were getting murdered most games and not scoring like the Pies would for example, he would have far less scoring opportunities at GWS compared to us, so his goals per game are pretty much irrelevant.

Ha! Got a chuckle out of that.

Be interested to know how many on here would get that reference. I'd say prob only the over 30s.

Was a fantastic song. One of the great one hit wonders.

Great post agree 100%........the best and most inspiring leaders are those that know how to delegate tasks to those who are qualified and let them do their job without undue interference, which seems to be happening last year and this year at Collingwood.

Agree.

Does that mean if Buckley doesn't improve his match day coaching that he can delegate it to Burns or Harvey?

Not that huge of a call.
Adams is clearly in the top 5 mids in the comp.

This is not an exaggeration.
I fully expect Taylor Adams to win 10 Copelands and 4 Brownlows.

It's one thing to be optimistic or look at potential. It's another to look at reality.
At Pies he's lucky to be 5th best mid behind Pendles, Swan, Beams, Ball
At GWS 4 midfielders polled Brownlow votes (Scully, Ward, Shiel, Whitfield) so he's 5th best at best there.

Not anywhere near the top 10 in Coaches MVP voting yet calling him top 5 in the comp......

4 players have won 3 brownlows, none have won 4. So now he's expected to be the best ever?

I'd suggest he wasn't serious.

Wait no longer, Wooljay!

The voice in the background is our multimedia producer as we filmed Taylor in the greenroom. CTV to come today. Exciting times!

Spot on.

Amusing to see Malthouse running around the country trying to convince player (the latest is Everitt from the swans) to come to Carlton. Good luck with that Mick. Think most players looking for development and success are not going to Carlton. I like it

Looks like and an angry young man... I like the look of him.. Him and Marley to become our enforcers over the journey... Strong physique on the young lad... Luke ball has his protégé..

To those that have watched him closely, how would you rate his kicking skills, tackling positioning and vision? What areas of his game will his improvement come from? How good can he become?

Oh look, it's official;

@AFL_PKeane: Trade papework lodged:
Collingwood and the GWS Giants have formally lodged the paperwork to exchange Heath Shaw and Taylor Adams.

I remember thinking she was a goddess when I was a kid ... Was always fascinated by her mouth, err, voice..

Seen a bit of his games and here are my Thoughts

  • Good Set Shot for Goal
  • Makes good Descions in tight
  • Good Tackler
  • Can Break Tackles
  • Uses the Ball Well
  • Need a bit of work on his outside Game
  • Good Kick
