That's what Johnson and Erasmus are for. Hopefully NOD too.

It's speed as much as size we lack.

Brayshaw, Serong, Johnson, Erasmus, NOD, Simpson and Stanley has a bit of everything imo. Then there's Jackson who adds something not many other teams have - a 200cm mid. Always the chance to add one or two more if/when needed.

This pick meets our needs perfectly imo. Different type of mid is what we need

Replace Erasmus with Young (need the extra left footer) and we are cooking

Fingers crossed! We are too small in the midfield as is.

I rant about the short people more than anybody, and even I am happy with this pick. We need someone with burst out of congestion and a long kick and goal sense. Also, 182cm with a cannon is a significant difference to guys like Switta and Henry who are genuinely tiny and can't kick over a jam tin.

Once our team is settled in a few years, his attributes would fit in perfectly and his size won't be an issue because a bunch of smalls should have been phased out of the side.

From 2023, Schultz/Henry/Switta/JOM/Aish can be replaced over the next few years with whoever works out from Chapman/Stanley/Sharp/NOD/Erasmus/Brodie/Simpson. If Simpson works, we'd be ideally replacing 5 x smalls with 4 x mediums and 1 x small. No size problems. Even room for another small.

In reality we have the capacity to be very big in the midfield. Especially as Johnson and Erasmus develop, but even so, we have Jackson, Young, Brodie and whatever Fyfe may still have to offer.

Beasting it up is in the DNA of our players, but not the DNA of our game plan.
