My favourite bit about Finns work is how clean he is when tagging. There isn't any scragging and holding or dirty tactics, he is just beating people with athleticism and body positioning.

I have no stats to back it up but only 1 free against in the 8 weeks he has been back in speaks volumes to me.

If he could turn that positioning around the contest into touches he could be anything imo

Loved the comment about Clayton Oliver sooking it up after the game. Embarrassing for Oliver.

No.

He's good at stopping A graders though.

I think he is if he contiues nullifying the best opposition player. It's no different to going head to head with best player and having the same stats.

Watch out if he can add some more offence to his game and not just nulify his opponent, but get involved in scoring, then he's more than just an A grader.

Here's a question for the group...Is Finn an A-grader? He's clearly the best player at his role in the league and he is one of the more effective players going around, given his victories over so many other highly-rated players....
It really depends on how you define "A-grader". You mention his role as a tagger. If he's being assessed through that lense and his impact on games playing that role then I don't know how anyone could say he isn't. He reduces the output/impact of your traditional "A-grader" to almost nothing.

But if people prefer to take a traditional definition and only look at his ability to generate play, scores and how well he uses the ball then he's C-grade at best (when not playing as a tagger).

Let's split the diff and say he's a B-grader who could push to true A-grade status if he can continue to severely reduce his targets impact while also hurting them the other way.

I'm still not sure why we don't rate defensive midfielders the same as defenders.

If a defender keeps a Weightman, Kozzie, Greene etc to a few touches and no goals but only gets 10 touches himself he is still rightly celebrated - what is the difference in the end if you are keeping an offensive threat quiet and your team mates are still able to score?

If he continues to enable us to draw a line through the opposition's most damaging players he can definitely be considered an A grader.

I don’t actually have a view myself tbh, but I thought it was an interesting bone to chew over…It’s a legitimate role and he’s the best in the league at it. But all the other aspects people have raised are also true. If the AA side had a position for a tagger hee definitely get it!

Given he's still not a lock for the best 22, I think it's a bit much to call him an A-grader.

Would have done this just to play him on Oliver for the next two years to watch Godwin’s head explode (if he’s still there by 2025).

Also, there are people in the last couple of pages complimenting Kane Cornes. Take a very good look at yourselves.
I want the AFL to let us rent him out to other clubs for cash. He could tag Oliver every week.

Goodwin: "Finn is a player that doesn't want the ball."

Ummm... he got more of it than Oliver when playing directly opposite him, you pin head...

Oliver clearly must not want the ball or the attention.
