I like the comment that he is a bit of a larrikin, smart alec.
He will get on perfectly with the coach who shared the same attributes.
Mitchell and Hill, at their peak, were pests of the highest order.
This is false equivalence. Sam Mitchell was always a consummate professional that dotted the i's and crossed the t's. He is now an AFL coach. People suggesting that Ginnivan is anywhere near the same person are crackers. He needs a lot of work to turn him into a professional sportsman. We can only hope he can find the discipline and focus to succeed.
I love Sammy - but he was a renowned pest. Not saying he didn't put in on the training paddock and we all know what he did on the field - but he was absolutely a little smartass so it's not a silly comparison to say that Ginnivan and Mitchell both have cheeky personalities.
His personality is going to be great for the group, his just a kid but he loves the game and loves the hawks.
Gets to learn off the goat now to, unbelievably good timing when you think about it
Pretty sure the last time a non key position player wore #23 for Hawthorn would have been Michael Collica back in 1999-2000. In the 21st century, it's been a number given to key position players (Nathan Thompson from 2001-2004, Lance Franklin from 2006-2013, Tim O'Brien from 2014-2021, and Jacob Koschitzke the last two years). Can't rule it out, but it would be a change in direction by the club.
Can we get Ginni to call Bai Smith and pass on the enthusiasm of coming home to the Hawks please.'To be here finally' - I know that for most players once they enter the professional environment old allegiances go and not all of them want the fairytale, but it is kind of awesome that for some they still foster the childhood dream of playing for the club they barracked for.
I reckon it’s locked in for next yearCan we get Ginni to call Bai Smith and pass on the enthusiasm of coming home to the Hawks please.

There is a highlights package of his season on YouTube that was posted in another thread- you can count them.
Goal after goal from marks and crumbing
(This isn't it but it gives you the idea)
Get excited folks
That clip where he's being interviewed by Rompingwins alongside Nick Daicos and he asks him what his AFL dream was or similar and Ginny replies that he wanted to play for Hawthorn is awesome. Daicos's face is a picture too (all I could see was him wearing his Carlton Guernsey as a kid at that moment!).'To be here finally' - I know that for most players once they enter the professional environment old allegiances go and not all of them want the fairytale, but it is kind of awesome that for some they still foster the childhood dream of playing for the club they barracked for.
He said today he modelled his kicking for goal etc on Breust and looking at those highlights you can really see that!! Funny...but effectiveIf this was a highlight reel of our Number 4 draft pick playing in the VFL, we’d be over the moon and saying Harley who? These are clips of an AFL premiership side, at times in front of big crowds.
Slight tweaking of the ‘tude dial and we’ve got ourselves the steal of the trade period.
Curtain to join the Hawthorn list of current and past players including Liam Shiel, Luke Bruest and Finn McGuinessCurtain streaming out of the back in 23 would look ......
I think he is well aware of it.Poor kid.
If he thought it was hard to win a free kick in a Collingwood jumper, good luck getting one wearing ours.

Not to mention Mitch Thorpe, Richie VandenBurg, Jack Gunstan, Ben Dickson, Jarryd Roughhead, and Michael Osbourne.Curtain to join the Hawthorn list of current and past players including Liam Shiel, Luke Bruest and Finn McGuiness
