Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Nick 'the Wizard' Watson! Rising star Nom!

I actually love the fact Watson didn't get a single vote in the rising star.

Firstly, it's just a pointless award voted on by
"Experts".

Just like Rioli, he will expose these "experts" as the clowns they are.

Secondly it just adds more fuel to his fire to stick it up em. Which is what he will do over and over again.

When you look at the winners from Rioli's year onwards - there are a lot of winners who went on to have decent careers (and some not so decent) but quite often they are far from the best player to come from their draft crop. I think not winning the RS is a good signal for a young player.

Blind freddie could see how good he was. The 'experts' obviously did not have the ability to look past a few early nervous moments and the behinds he kicked.

Humphries disposal efficiency over those 11 games was an exceptional 86% - none of the other rising star nominees got anywhere near that. In the game against Collingwood where he received his Rising Star nomination he had 23 disposals at 96% efficiency, and also took 13 marks. I'm not a Geelong fan but I can appreciate that 🙂
Actually scratch that he played 9 regular season games. Votes for playing less than half the season?

Funny isn't it, you only had to watch The Wiz for five minutes to know he had "it".

All things being equal he has an excellent chance of being the the small forward of his generation.

Flicking through their posting history the poster made their account to talk about Humphries and knows them personally.

So they have a bias.

Disposal efficiency for a half back isn’t a great metric to assess a player. He looks a decent player no doubt, but anyone voting for him for rising star after his season has rocks in their head.

I didn’t realise Watson didn’t get a single rising star vote last year. That’s outrageous (not that we should place much credibility on the rising star award).
Logan Morris, Caleb Windsor, Matt Roberts??
Ask their clubs now who’d they rather have if given the choice retrospectively. Perhaps the judges would have voted differently if they’d voted after the Wizz’s 2 finals.

By way of comparison, the Wizz has had a year similar to Cyril’s first year (2008) - but the Wizz had a marginally high goal scoring rate even allowing for his early season inaccuracy.

But Cyril was a clear 2nd in 2008 in the rising start (behind the legendary Rhys Palmer).
What was even a bigger joke is the only judge to give Matt Robert’s votes was Jude Bolton who no doubt watches every Swans game and then only a few others. Not a single vote for the Wiz is staggering but as most on here have said who gives a rats he’s a star and ours.

Kai Lohmann an absolute jet too.
