It's the opposite. We know we have a player in Day. The more exposure we give Magginess the more chance we have of finding another player to help the rebuild. No need to rush Day back given his slow build up to the season.I was a fan of Maginness' work on the weekend, but he's not really quality enough to make any real change to the bigger picture. Day has the scope to be a star of the competition and getting him back at the level helps the bigger picture far more than playing Maginness who is much more speculative.
Given the club has already intentionally put him on a drawn out and slow program to get back playing there isn't really a massive need to keep him out. I'd put money down that Sam is just being cagey, reckon he has no intention to leave Day out of returning to the game in Adelaide in front of his family.

Yep he needs games. He could be a weaponIt's the opposite. We know we have a player in Day. The more exposure we give Magginess the more chance we have of finding another player to help the rebuild. No need to rush Day back given his slow build up to the season.
I'm def bullish on Magginess after seeing him play live. I suspect the TV version looked poorer but watching live he did some things that showed he has the potential to be an influential contributor. Kicking not at standard at times yet but speed size endurance and versatility make him a very promising prospect.
Agree 100%. So far the bonus of the preseason. Wasn't expecting him to be where he is. He is on the fringe now and will likely find himself out of the side when we are full strength but he has impressed.Yep he needs games. He could be a weapon

His improvement from last year has really made me stand up and take notice. He spent quite a bit of training this week doing kicking drills one on one with a trainer. He has the attributes and the work ethic to keep improving. Its now about how far he can go.Agree 100%. So far the bonus of the preseason. Wasn't expecting him to be where he is. I think its fair to say that i wouldnt have picked finn last year. He couldnt get near it. Either at box hill (not many opportunities) at pre season training or training during the season. This year is a completely different story mate. I would however have picked ward and mcdonald. I think clarko would have to. Sam and where we are at makes it an easy decision this yearWOW 4P, feels like I'm seeing a brand new you!
From previous years of Clarko dogma about earning your place in the team through tireless improvement at Box Hill, and needing to show that you're better than the man you are replacing, to giving game time in AFL as development for young players still finding their way....
Honesly, can't quite belive it, but fair to say Sam Mitch has won you over!!!

how did u get that from what he said lolSo in your opinion, with how Howe trained and performed over the summer - Shiela, Hartigan too, that Clarko would have played DGB over Hartigan, Macdonald over Howe, and Finn over Shiels?
Sorry, don't agree.

he was talking about Ward and CMac, not sure where the other blokes came fromYou really want me to explain it?
Yes please. You really want me to explain it?
No he would have played ward and mcdonald yes probably not finn and probalbly not dgb or nash. Its pretty easy to recognise players on the track. Its the same as Day when he came in. Finn is a work in progress so given clarko was into winning he would have picked howe. Nash started playing in the middle cos of mitchell so he is his boy for sure. Mitchell has a different mindset he is not about the wins necessarily so playing the kidsSo in your opinion, with how Howe trained and performed over the summer - Shiela, Hartigan too, that Clarko would have played DGB over Hartigan, Macdonald over Howe, and Finn over Shiels?

He still played experience on every line. Very fortunate to have Gunston back and Lewis ready to be the number one forward. Also moved Worpel and Newcombe out of the middle to accomodate omeara and Mitchell at the same time. He still wants a competitive side, which is good. Always easier to learn the right way to play when you aren’t getting belted in the middle! No he would have played ward and mcdonald yes probably not finn and probalbly not dgb or nash. Yes winning is important but not the most important mate. Thats the differenceHe still played experience on every line. naah we needed a fresh start Clarko was done at Hawthorn. We need to do what Mitchell is doing right now. A new set of eyes new set of coaches and a fresh approach and game plan. The sooner we started it the better so even though it was a bit of a mess it was the right decision.Would Clarko still be coaching at least this year if he played guys like Finn etc I wonder, probably with the view that Mitch to take over next year.
