The family club that marched S.Mitchell out the door?

He'll be your best player and is better than Omera.
Wow, how good are Sydney, where Hawthorn's best player would only be 13th or 14th on Sydney's pay structure, and easily let go for a pittance??

You must be streets ahead of every team!!

PS This is sarcasm. What I really meant was that you sound like a dickhead with a comment like this.

The Smith Whisperer is about to drop a bombshell involving Sam Mitchell and Tom Mitchell. Click here to find out how they... ah, screw that. I'll just tell you. It's what Barney Stinsin calls 'The Trading Play'.

  • Step 1 - First garner sympathy from other clubs from losing your B&F player to another team in what appears to be a grand gesture towards the good of the player and the game in general.
  • Step 2 - With no Sam Mitchell around, the Hawks now look mortal. All of a sudden, the trepidation of dealing with Hawthorn disappears. 'Give you Tommy Gun for pick 14? Yesterday I would have laughed in your face. Today, I think that seems more than fair. Can we give you a higher draft pick in a later round just because? Sorry, I'm still tearing up from your incredible gesture earlier this morning.'
  • Step 3 - Parade Sam Mitchell around with orphans and hospital kids every time Gold Coast keep making unruly demands. 'BOOOOOO' yells the football community at their heinous manner in dealing with JOM. Why can't they be like that nice boy with the orphans, Sammy Mitchell? With pressure to deal with Hawthorn hanging over their heads, GC eventually trades their man to Hawthorn for a third round pick and two chiko rolls.
  • Step 4 - On the last day of trading, once Hawthorn goes through the same pattern in picking up a Ruck, FF, CHF and CHB, Graeme Wright comes out and announces Sam won't be traded to WCE after all.

Suck on that, AFL community! Just remember, you heard it here first!

I had never considered that. Would be lovely if we landed all our targets, then actually keep Sam for one last hoorah. Ultimate headfuking by Clarko. It's a bloody long shot but heck me that would be pure genius.

Good to see you here mtooler

We've noticed your best players are all former Hawks

And we thought this was a way to emulate you guys

Do you have any other suggestions for Swans players we can recruit next year to be our best player (don't say Towers lol)?

So what, The Oracle tell you all this?

This kinda thing is hardly clever when you dominate the Matrix...;)

I had to control myself on the train not to a little fist pump. Stoked.

Will put the gloating-at-the-Sammy-news Dees & Pies counts at work back in their box a little.

We'd have to hose the Sydney off him first. Can't be that good, if Sydney don't want to keep him, frankly I am a little concerned that we would want any scraps Sydney throw way. But then again, it's charitable to offer charity.

The difference is that Sammy is 34 and has a coaching career in the pipeline and he and his family are happy with the deal.

He and Clarko are doing what's best for the club as painful as it is.

Unlike the COLA who has Tippett who is not 34yo and about 5 others shit trucks who go missing when the heat comes on, and you are stuck with them.

Spot the difference?

I think Tom will be good fit at hawks a lot people bag his disposal efficiency but he provides outlet in congestion for team mates that don't return the favor forcing a lot of quick kicks to avoid being tackled less congestion in the hawks game plan i think will fix this issue as in space he reads play well and normally hits best option. And his only other weakness is contested marking doesn't have elite speed to burn defender and gets owned under the high ball when playing forward but moving up pecking order he wont spend as much time forward where he never really kicked many goals most his goals came from gut running into forward line from midfield. I think hawks getting 200 game A grade player at current B grade price.

Fair response, but I tend to disagree with the price.

I think it's what you expect when the player wants to be out. We are getting 23 for Hill, when most see him as pick 14-20, and you are getting 14 for Mitchell, when pick 10 or something might have been more appropriate. Pick 14 is not a B-grade price, it's our best available pick.

I know there were many on your board talking 2 first round picks, but that was always cloud cuckoo land

I think 14 is still on cheaper side for 200+ quality game player coming into his prime and Swans will be lucky if get player of same quality at that pick and will take 3-4 years to develop them but they need cap space and have to many inside mids is win/win trade atm and if he takes next step which I think he will if played to more his strengths at hawks than its a bargain.

and yea calling him B grader is probably under selling him his right on edge of being A grader in my view, but I don't think he was fully utilized at Swans and will become a A grader at Hawks.

Yes, a lot of people get confused by efficiency stats when applied to inside mids. Sam Mitchell often played games with what some would consider very low efficiency numbers, but those increased when he started to play as the controller off half back. It is very hard to play 100% inside and get high efficiency numbers, and pretty much nobody does it consistency. Would have loved seeing the Mitchells work together, looks like we'll need to settle for JOMTOM now.

Struck a nerve did I? And then we awake to Lewis being sounded out by Melbourne no doubt for family and coaching reasons. #FamilyClub
Yes Clarko wrighty and I have been doing a lot of research
We scoured the Swans board all last weekend as we know it's the best source of information on the state of our clubs playing list
We were sitting by the fireplace at Clarkos place When I opened another bottle of Grace and wrighty read something Tedeski had written and he said my eyes have been opened, our playing list is totally sh!t we need to trade some players out

Clarko and I confirmed it with information we'd gleaned from chunkychicken who only seems to rate Smithy as its been his avatar for a few weeks now

So that's what we've been doing all week - all stock must go

I said we have to keep Hodgey so he and smithy are staying but seriously everyone else is up for grabs to the right bidder

We are happy to trade with you later in the week too
