“I’m just stoked to be given the opportunity. I can’t wait to get over to Perth and get stuck into it. It’s pretty crazy at the moment.”

“I was just at home in the back room with my family and a few of my best mates. We were actually watching it on Foxtel via the internet. It was a little bit delayed, so about 15 seconds before my name popped up I started getting a ton of messages. I had a bit of an inkling that I might be off to West Coast, but I didn’t know if it was a stitch up or not. Thankfully I knew it was true when my name was read out and everyone just went nuts. They were all hugging me. It was pretty crazy.”

“They’ve obviously just won a premiership, so it’s a pretty good list and it’ll be tough to crack into the senior team. But I’m just looking forward to training in a professional environment with the leaders like Shannon Hurn, Luke Shuey and obviously Dommy Sheed, the match-winner. I’m looking forward to the challenge, being able to move somewhere new and getting a bit of independence too. It’s really exciting.”

“My preferred position would probably be a midfielder, but I’ve pretty much been thrown around everywhere. My strengths would probably be my versatility, my speed and my ball use, as well as my balance of contested and uncontested ball. I think I can be a pretty fierce tackler too.”
You get around Dommy Sheed you absolute legend!

He made some draft combine top 10's:

Equal 10th in running vertical jump - 84cm
7th in 20m sprint - 2.957
Equal 1st in kicking test - 27/30

Pretty weird that he didn't play for Vic Metro.

I'm really sure what to make of this guy yet.

The more I'm finding out about him, the more I'm getting impressed.

Kicks well off both feet, takes the game on, vision looks terrific, has pace and agility, gets his body over the ball, is a good size and tackles hard.

Great work by the recruiting team.

With those stats how did he not get the call-up from Vic Metro?

He looks average, just composed with the ball, I don't see the speed or the ability to burst of our packs based on that highlight video. I'd say he's more of a Nick Dal Santo type.

Gee, a Dal Santo type with Pick 28 would be fantastic, would have thought.

Better stats than RCD. Where they both getting midfield minutes? Why didn't he play in the championships?

A Nick Dal Santo type? You say that like it's a bad thing.

So, people think we reached and I was a little surprised we took him as early. But in reflection- I am happy. He’s fast. Great skills. Athletic. Dual sided. A clearance machine from the Oakleigh Clearance Factory following in the shoes of Boots and Gaff. Humble and appreciative. Versatile mid that can play flanks. Decent stats and makes them count. He was strong in centre clearances without his side having a dominant ruck.

Got to say that there is a lot to like about this lad. Welcome Xavier. Good to have you on board. Your going to enjoy playing for a club that consistently plays finals and prioritises having good talls to feed talented mids at clearances
