Wellingham - Traded to West Coast

I was thinking for name sakes trading to a Melbourne since they seem to be interested in everyman and his dog. There second rounder is pick 26.

Pick 26 and our 3rd rounder.

Best way to ask is with a hypothetical question.

Say pick 17 is off the cards,

What would be the bare minimum you'd accept for Wellingham?
We'd let him go into the PSD, no skin off our backs, especially if we get a first rounder for Dawes.

Personally I'd be happy with a mid 20's pick as I dont think it is any different to a late teens pick. Maybe the Eagles can sweeten the deal with a late round pick switch

There we go, alas something to work with, I doubt West Coast would try and screw the Pies over, Just like the Pies will try not screw Wellingham over, but both clubs obviously want to look after their own needs. Which is respectable business ethics.

Let me see what I can whip together to acquire a pick within the vercinity of 17- (for name sakes) no later then 27 (Unless that's too far).

You mean not trading him to Collingwood, yeah?

How do you know we would have offered unders if you didn't even talk with us?

Check the edit. You must have dipped in pretty quickly; but yes, Collingwood.

How do I know? Well of course there is just assumption on my part, but Collingwood would have to have been total idiots if they were going to do a trade that represented Fev's actual value by talent. Carlton had already declared him gone, with the circumstances under which having already seriously devalued what could be expected in a trade. Collingwood was talking about "helping" Fev and the Lions trades showed this was just a get what you can affair for the Blues.

I'm not saying we had a god-given right to trade for Fevola - just the fact that you didn't even look at us is not good trading imo.

IMO it was great management of the club. The Fev trade was a source of much disquiet among the faithful, so it would have been remiss to view this as just another player trade. Fev was a champion of the club and a bright spark in our worst of times; letting him go to the Pies of all clubs under such circumstances would have been foolhardly. Particularly with the Pies winning a flag not long after. No doubt Eddie recognised the same with the potential of Cloke going to Carlton after we got Mick. Just good management and nothing unfair about it.

Fair enough.

The master of huff & puff is at it again, laying down the law to West Coast on Wellingham.

1. The guy has decided he doesnt want to continue at the Pies
2. The guy decides he wants to go home
3. The guy wants to join the Eagles

So far the Eagles arent players in the game.

Up steps Mr huff n puff, blah blah ....

Leon was AA when he went down the same path & played 2012 in the WAFL because neither AFL club had room for him.

Eddie needs to take a lead from the way Jolly got to the Pies, an absence of huff n puff.
Is it different when a player wants to leave the Pies?

The Eagles can play as hard as they chose Eddie.
Obviously desperate to get the premiership player Wellingham given your inane attacks on McGuire??? Collingwood won't succumb to any pressure from other clubs, especially hicks from the West.

Don't be so sure. Isn't Schwab involved with Melbourne's trading?

Nope. However if the powers that be at the club, do decide to do that trade as suggested then they have learnt nothing in the past 10 years. FFS Dawes is a 24yo who is being forced out of a side by a guy who is 3 months shy of 30. He's worth a maximum 30 pick. Not a first rounder.

Dont like how Eddie's got involved in it. The mind boggles as to why he thinks he needs to have an opinion. You're the president Eddie. Not part of the coaching staff, list management etc. Stay out of it

I'd give away Stevens and a 2nd rounder to get Wellingham to West Coast and hopefully get a 3 way trade

Yet you feel the need to voice yours? Only difference is that Eddie was asked

Understandable. Just feel like he wants over for Wellingham and isnt being overly realistic about it. Wellingham wants to come to West Coast. Let Coolingwood and West Coast decide a feasible deal and if absolutely nothing can be made than let Melbourne in

We'd be moronic not to explore all options from the outset

Maguire was not worried about Cloke going to Carlton. He was worried about Cloke going anywhere..

It is believed........

Once upon a time......

Neeld is interested in Dawes, i think that's common knowledge, what is Dawes worth? probably a second round pick, but to Collingwood he would be worth more than that IMO, IMO there's more chance of Dawes re-finding his best than a second round pick becoming a 150-200 game player, Neeld is probably thinking the along the same lines, i do feel pick 13 would be a massive win for Collingwood though.

Doesn't mean that the offer has already been made. It's all speculation ATM with the media being fed information by clubs with their own agendas

It's already been offered genius, maybe you should stick to other topics.

No it hasn't. Its all speculation. Maybe you should stop using the HUN as your sauce.

Of course getting pick 13 for him would be a massive win for Collingwood. He's not an A grade forward, has just come of playing a full season kicking only 16 goals and has just been basically replaced by a 30yo. Doesn't take a genius to figure that out.
