We play like a team with young and inexperience players atm (which is obviously the case)

I think we can all agree that Menadue, cellis, rioli, short, castagna etc. would not all be playing at once if it werent for a our injury list

Cellis is starting to find his place out there and growing in confidence (seems to be destined to be that newman type off halfback, would like to see him move to the wing eventually)

Menadue shows glimpses but still a fair way off imo from being a regular if we had a full list

Rioli will be a star, done some nice things but possibly another of those getting a game due to injuries but im not against him playing

Short could be anything from serviceable to a solid contributor but has earnt his spot from what ive heard. id prefer lennon though :(

Castagna same as short, could be anything, hopefully a solid small defender (We ****ing need one)

i think we are back on the path after getting off it between 2014-2015

That was only one game
I've watched McBean a few times this year and he has been worse than Vickery in terms of his effort and intensity. Sure he has that 5 goal game in round 2 but outside that he hasn't had much impact at all in the other 3 games.

This is vickery 8th season. Mcbeans 4th..we have to see if Mcbean can play afl . pretty simple really. Play him the next 4-6 games if he plays well fine if not fine at least we will know one way or another

Can't agree, Menadue, CEllis and Rioli as wells as Short and Castagna are playing because they are the future and our present is in a hole and it suits our premiership focus and list management.

The whole team could be injury free they still would be playing, its about performance and development, performance in the upcoming GF!!!

I understand this, also i guess if we had those available who arent/werent available the club would probably not be in a hole, atleast not the one we're in right now

Were in the same hole we have been for the last 4 years.

Ladder position is meaningless, its about focusing on premierships instead of finals and raising the hope in the place.

Step forward clearly last night and something D Richardson probably does not understand.

For a change now we seem to be playing with direction at the coal face addressing the development challenges. Its a bit exciting now I have to say!

How do you then go to McBean in 4-6 weeks time and drop him if he isn't performing? Kid would thinking you promoted me when I wasn't in form and now I'm getting dropped because I didn't perform. That is why if you want to bring a young kid in, you need to do it when they have good form behind them to warrant selection. The kid knows they have earned it and if it they do end up going back they know what is required to get back. Elevate them when they don't deserve to be picked and it sends mixed messages about what is required to get a spot in the 22.

I don't think that has anything to do with it particularly for KPP's or not.

Either they have the ability or they don't.

If the potential is there give McBean a run for say 5 weeks if it does not work out he can work on things back in the 2's.

For KPP"s playing in the firsts is probably better because they know what the benchmark is, know what they have to do to compete even if not good enough yet, and they are on the end of better kicks so get a better idea how to fit in at the top level

So seasoned duds just keep getting games no matter how well they perform? Mcbean has had many good games in the reserves but never given a serious opportunity. Now is that time.

Totally agree, also elevating them when they don't deserve it can set them up for failure which may crush their confidence long term....

Now I think we have nothing to lose and at worst give him a 6 week stint and ,either way, we will know, and the team will know, a hell of a lot more!

Thats just a defeatist attitude. I mean JR came in with bounce from the get go so did others with swagger.

Frankly if they lack confidence they are not good enough usually. One needs to be able to read people. The best people who know where they are at are the players themselves!

If he can't show something in those 4-6 matches then we know he is not up to it and delist him at season end

Some players like JR may have had the "swagger" as you say but not all players do have a high level of self belief. Some take longer and there are team standards or changing a clubs culture. I back the coaching staff/selectors to make the call.... I have a background in sport & have worked with elite athletes. It's about understanding the people your working with as well as development....

McBean is a talented kid, but not quite doing everything he needs to be doing, so you leave him in the VFL and get him to work on those things. When he gets them right and his confidence is up then you bring him into the side and see what he can do and give him the best possible chance to show what he is capable of. Bring the kid in when he is out of form and down on confidence and you pretty much put him behind the 8 ball from the get go.

Having watched about 30 odd VFL games the last 3 years I can safely say McBean has had more poor games than good. Yet most ignore that because he is seen as the great white hope after he has won the leading goal kicker at that level. Don't get me wrong like everyone I want to see McBean come good, especially after 4 years of development, but he needs to earn it, not just have it handed to him because he is under 23 and has potential

Maybe just maybe you put him in the afl team with better players around him and you might see another side of the Bean. We don't lose anything by seeing what he has to offer

I really hope we persist with Short. He didn't do a heap last night, but has the attributes to be a good small forward. That goal from the spillage at CHF was classic small forward stuff and just shows that he knows how to position himself and finish.

I wouldn't back those clowns you call coaches. Stood 20 feet from them at the reserves . they have no idea
