Should never have played half-fit players, should back the young players.

Tas do you know who the last 4 players we had left were?

Tim Houlihan - a first year player
James Thomson - a first year player
Matthew Spangher -A second year player who needs shoulder surger
Will Schofield - A first year player

We're scraping the bottom of the barrel here if we play those guy because they aren't ready for senior footy. It's bad enough we had to play McKinley today who wasn't ready for his shot yet either

Stenglein and Hansen make a big difference too.

I don't think they're a one man team. They won 6 in a row without Cousins. But even if Cousins and all those players cam back I don't think they're be able get everyone fit and settled before September. Too many players coming in who need match fitness whilst confidence is very low. It's more a combo of the two that would pretty much sink the Eagles.

Stenglein and Hansen are good players so they make a difference of course, but without two of Judd, Kerr and Cousins playing and in top form - the are not a contender even if everyone else is fit. They will be beaten in the midfield by most teams and their forward line is average at best.

But I don't think they would have a problem getting match fitness and cohesion back if they can get these guys right. Cousins looks very fit and has so many preseasons under his belt - it would only take him a ouple of games. Judd on the other hand looks in massive trouble.

Re: To all the West Coast doom predictors

Yes we are playing bad, but we are only a few games away from returning to form. It's better to be out of form and experience our bad run of injuries now then at the end of the season.

To come back into this team we have:
Kerr
Cousins
Hansen
Fletcher
Stenglein
Wirrapanda
Butler
Graham
Nicoski
Staker

Those are guys who are either in or around our best 22 and will lift what is currently a struggling outfit.

There might be one heck of a storm cloud over us at the moment, but there is also one heck of a silver lining to come as well.

Say what your like nay sayers, we are far from dusted in season 2007 just yet.

I agree your season is far from dusted.

However their are concerns for the Eagles as Port and Brisbane showed last week. If your competitive in the midfield and your defenders work really the Eagles are beatable.

Your team had an aura of invincibility about them. They could intimidate teams into submission. Injuries or not that aura around your club is disappearing.

West coast can still win the flag. Only a fool would write them off

Yeah the media willl be all over us...Gone, No good, rah rah rah media crap from Vic media and west.

But in 2 weeks we'll have Kerr, Couisn Stenglein Fletcher Hansen will be back......thats 150 possessions right there

If we can finish anywhere in the top 5 or 6th we can win the flag.

I have faith in my mob, they wont go away. Port wwere red hot today and that happens.

Cant wait for next week, GF rematch. I actually wasnt disapointed with today, floggings can only make you stronger, if your a weakling you will wilt, our blokes have shown over the 5 years woosha has been around that we are not weak.

Message to all West Cast fans, dont panic, get behind the boys when at the games, and we can still take the glory this season.

Re: To all the West Coast doom predictors

Wasn't Wira close to being dropped before he got injured though? I wouldn't say he would feature as one of your best at the moment :p

Port absolutely murdered them today, no doubt about that. Hopefully they can get kerr, cousins, stenglein, fletcher, wirrpanda, hansen, staker and nicoski back soon, cause they are not gonna win many if they keep playing with the team they had today.

This raises questions about West Coasts recruiting! Well not just recruiting, development as well.

J. Selwood performs straight out of the box, Hawkins same, Petterd, Davey, Gibbs, Harbrow, Schmidt, Gilbert, Goldsack, Clarke, Westhoff, Gray, Higgins, Houli, Varcoe, Jetta all first or 2nd year players making good names for themselves.

Probably not a fair comparison actually. But I took so long typing it out I don't want to waste it :p

I guess if you took the bottom 4 from each list, they would be in a similar situation.
