West Coast Eagles premiers!!!

Really held their nerve today; plenty around here had them written off with 10 minutes to go in the first quarter!
Ridiculous.

They worked really hard on the biggest stage of them all and were absolutely deserved winners.

They obviously started slowly, and certain players could have gone into their shells after making glaring errors.
That's where leadership and maturity kicked in. I thought Shannon Hurn was huge.

To think they did it today without arguably their two best players in Natanui and Gaff.

Much more likable bunch of Eagles than the methed-up scalliwags of the 2000s, too.

How much of Collingwood's loss can be blamed on the Pies' cheersquad screwing up the banner?

Well done to West Coast.
Some people just can't resist twisting the knife can they?

Sensational game by both teams in a pulsating arm wrestle of willpower and skill.

No attempt to beat the system here sunshine - just two hard and fast teams determined to display the finest aspects of the game on the biggest stage of all without having to have a finger on the scales.

Be proud westies - great team on all lines who brought it when it counts.

Congratulations Eagles, but oh the agony of defeat by 5 points when 5 goals up early and looking so close to kicking the sealer late in the final term but couldn't nail it.

Positives - at least Collingwood saved the world from the possibility of another Richmond premiership (although West Coast would likely have beaten Richmond in the GF, with the Tigers not matching up well on the Eagles) and it was a good Grand Final, not like the abomination last year which if comparing football to movies would be the equivalent of Battlefield Earth, Heaven's Gate or Jack and Jill.

The numbers weren't with the Magpies today. West Coast win in even years and 12 years apart - 1994, 2006 and now 2018. Collingwood won in 1910 & 2010 and lost in 1911 & 2011, and have lost in both 1918 and 2018. And both by 5 points to their avian cousins, the South Melbourne Swans in 1918 and the West Coast Eagles in 2018! Still, the Magpies won in 1919, maybe they will win in 2019. I can only hope so.

Played the game at the oppo's home ground being the higher ranked team.
Gave up a 5 goal head start.
+15 I50's.
+5 scoring shots.

The better team won, well done!
Yep. They were able to do what we couldn't last year and show some fight and heart in the second half and gradually wear down Collingwoods determination. Great win.

Even when we were five goals down you'd sense we weren't out of it. This team is magical, it has kept on winning when they shouldn't be winning, and capped it off in the biggest game of all.

All credit to Adam Simpson - no Gaff, no Sheppard, no Naitanui, no f***ing worries.

UP THE F***ING COASTERS.

I work with seven pies fans and zero eagles supporters. This last week has been insufferable.
Thank you West Coast.
LOL. I truly believe this would have been a difficult week. I'm guessing football talk won't be their topic of conversation next week lol.

When we kicked the fourth behind in the row i thought we were probably done, but still a hope. And we did it! When someone mentioned we were 2 goals behind at half time in 92 the parallels were too eerie to ignore. Said i had a weird feeling of confidence we'd do it this morning, but that was tested a lot this game...

"Against a fancied opponent"..... it gets a bit blurred in GF week. But I reckon a lot people thought WC were a big chance or backed them.
