Wow, IC is the hardest to pick.. Can't leave out Picken, Daniel, Biggs leaving Wallis Dunkley Suckling and McLean to fight for the last spot

Surprised more people aren't voting for Wallis. I expected him to be a clear lock and can only assume that the reason why he isn't is because of his injury. Let's not forget he was close to our best player in 2015.
As the votes currently stand he's in the team though. I think some people are picking the side for round one which is costing him a couple of votes. Some people have even said as much.

did you think the same about Matty Boyd ?

Never thought about Boyd until it happened. When it did, it made sense.

Wallis doesn't have the composure of Boyd. Doesn't have the pace and skills of JJ and Murph. He doesn't possess enough to play that role.

Can I ask what part of his game suggests to you he could play that role ?

Wallis is easily best 22, what the hell is going on here? We are voting for best 22, not round 1 team.

Easily best 22 is stretching it a little. There just might not be a spot for him.
No spot in def. No spot up forward. It leaves the mid/fwd role that he's had been playing the last few years. The question is..will that spot still be available next season.
Wallis has limited attributes as a footballer. He's just refined the ones he does have and that's why he's been playing good footy the last 24 months. He has to be playing at his very best to be considered an automatic selection, otherwise he'll be back playing VFL.

People saying that there isn't a spot for Wallis in the Best 22 are joking, surely?

I get that there's uncertainty with how he'll recover from the broken leg but if that's not an issue he's one of our first picked.

He was our best player in 2015. He's easily part of our midfield rotations. There is 100% a spot for him.

People around here have short memories sometimes.

Mitch Wallis- 17 games, 11 goals, 6 behinds, 45 marks.
Versus.
Josh Dunkley- 17 games, 9 goals, 12 behinds, 76 marks.

Does Dunkley's aerial supremacy give him the edge in this
epic head to head battle ? Or does the superior goal
kicking accuracy get Wallis across the line ?
Or are they both waiting to be eclipsed by young guns
Patrick Lipinski and Bailey Williams, stay tuned for all
the answers.

What about when Wallis goes into the middle?

Or does Wallis' superior clearance work make him an elite mid? How quickly we forget that he carried our midfield in 2015.

What about when Wallis goes into the middle?
Fair point HBG, but i seem to recall winning four finals in a row
without him in the middle, in fact you could argue that the
rise of Liam Picken and the fall of Mitch Wallis was a bit of a
co-incidence in timing. I was just showing the different
stats of Wallis and Dunkley as they in fact ended up playing
the same number of games.

I am not downgrading Mitch Wallis ScragCity, but if he is such an elite
mid why was he not in the starting line up ahead of Bont, Libba and
Dahlhaus, maybe because you need some variety in there.

I disagree that Wallis lacks Boyd's composure. When I compare Wallis to Boyd when both were playing midfield roles, I would say that Wallis was, if anything, the more composed.

Josh Dunkley Versus Mitch Wallis (Tale of the tape.)

Games- 17 Versus 17 = We have a tie.
Kicks- 152 Versus 155 = It's Wallis by 3.
Handballs- 136 Versus 233 = It's Wallis by 97.
Disposals- 288 Versus 388 = It's Wallis by 100. (Saw that coming)
Marks- 76 Versus 45 = It's Dunkley by 31. (Barassi)
Goals- 9 Versus 11 = It's Wallis by 2.
Behinds- 12 Versus 6 = It's Dunkley by 6. (Not a good thing)
Hit Outs- 18 Versus 5 = It's Dunkley by 13.
Frees For- 17 Versus 21 = It's Wallis by 4.
Frees Against- 8 Versus 12 = It's Dunkley by 4.
Tackles- 98 Versus 57 = It's Dunkley by 41

Effective Disposals- 194 Versus 282 = It's Wallis by 88.
Disposal Efficiency- 67.4% Versus 72.7% = It's Wallis by 5.3%
Contested Marks- 6 Versus 4 = It's Dunkley by 2.
Clangers- 33 Versus 40 = It's Dunkley by 7.
Goal Assists- 4 Versus 9 = It's Wallis by 5.
Inside 50's- 39 to 65 = It's Wallis by 26.
Clearances- 32 Versus 73 = It's Wallis by 41.
Rebound 50's- 14 Versus 16 = It's Wallis by 2.
1%'s- 22 Versus 13 = It's Dunkley by 9.

Conclusion- It's Wallis by x 11 Versus It's Dunkley by x 8.

And the winner is Wallis although the fact Dunkley won the
Tackles and the 1%'s bodes well for a first year player.

Maybe because he just broke his leg and we dont know what his form will be like after missing a lot of footy?

I came to the exact same conclusion. The first three were locks for me and I also considered between Wallis, Suckling, Dunkley and McLean while also considering Cordy and Roberts as tall backup options.

It was really difficult to choose that final spot but I went for Wallis because when fit he is definitely in our best 22 in my opinion and kicks goals as a mid, while he could also play wing or forward if needed. I really wanted to pick Toby because I think he is special and does things that a lot of other players can't do in terms of creating goal scoring opportunities and getting under the opposition skin but Wallis is currently a better, more experienced player and deserves his spot back when he heals his leg and gets full fitness.
