Heritage round is a bit unfair because certain clubs like Gold Coast, GWS and Port Adelaide have no real history and haven't been around for very long.
Port definitely have a long history that precedes AFL! But now they also have a history of different guernseys within the AFL . They've probably changed jumpers more times than their rivals Adelaide (even though they've been in the AFL longer ) . But that's true about GC and GWS

To answer the OP, Eddie did a deal with Port so that we would only wear the prisonbars during heritage rounds.

Then he got rid of the heritage round.

Its time for Gill McCool to revive it!

From what i gather it has gone the way of "rivalry round", which is a shame since those kind of themed rounds helped spice up otherwise boring, uninteresting late/mid season rounds.

If we had a 'Rivalry Round' at some point in the last six weeks of the season and worked on the assumption that most of the traditional Victorian rivalries are actually more exciting than any random game between two Victorian sides (which I certainly don't subscribe to), having a 'Rivalry Round' would simply make the other five weeks proportionally more boring/uninteresting. I honestly believe that the only Victorian 'rivalries' that Victorians care about are the ones that involve their own team and the ones that have finals implications. Geelong v Hawthorn is a great rivalry now (and a country mile ahead of Collingwood v Carlton), but it will fall away to insignificance when one, or both, of those teams becomes an also-ran.

As for Heritage Round, I imagine that part of the issue is that each team would have to have (at least) two alternative strips to wear, ensuring that there was no clash, depending on which opponent it played. It would be impossible to have something ready to go, based on the 'themes' that they used to have (e.g. 80s round or whatever), so the clubs would just be able to come up with whatever. Some teams have never had a light coloured guernsey (or at least, not one they'd want to wear for a heritage round, such as Carlton's M&Ms, Essendon's silver, or Melbourne's white/red/silver clashes), so you'd be quite restricted in who could play against whom.

But I think most of those obstacles could be overcome, especially as clash strips become more widely used by everyone. We've already had away guernseys for long enough that Fremantle and Port Adelaide have heaps of options for a Heritage round, without having to draw inspiration from their old state leagues (though they are welcome to, as far as I'm concerned).

It just appeared to me you were looking for an excuse to spout your very enlightened views that's all.
It's an internet forum, there are opinions flying every which way. Given the tone of the conversation, I felt mine was relevant.
Why does that bother you so much?

They beg to differ.

Cue backlash.
Nah, people shouldn't take these things so seriously. I can appreciate the humour and I even laughed out loud.
