I assume it's trash but I'm curious what kind of nonsense they manufactured for WC.

Conole (our Recruitment Manager) was on record not too long ago about being quite fluid with what we could do with our two first rounders.

List wise I think we need to trade in either a ruck or forward/ruck. Not sure how long Martin has and we have been quite happy with Oscar being the number 1. However expect it to be a later pick used, 3rd rounder depending on the player.

Draft wise there are 2 scenarios I would like and that is one moving up and the other is to trade out of this years for next years first round. One of the picks or two them it doesn’t matter. This draft is going to be so hit and miss especially in the later picks. If we draft up I wouldn’t have a clue as to the type we need. Still think we need some X factor so maybe an Archie Perkins type or a Tanner Bruhn.

Our KPF are the greatest concern but we are just too far back and even moving up I can’t see us being around the mark for this more highly rated talls.

I’d love O’Driscoll in the draft, might be pushing it our selection but hopefully a lot take the talls they need plus Holland and Phillips go before him. If not then hopefully down grade our picks to acquire two of the many inside mids on offer, keen on Trew and Macrae.

No trades except outgoing, get what we can for Fantasia.

He is popular on our board as well. Should be available around your pick.

It’d probably require something back? Just because I expect 9 might turn into a pick in the 11-14 range depending on bids. I don’t expect us to fall down the ladder next year but you never know so far less risk in sending the two late 2020 firsts.
I don’t quite follow this part of your reasoning.

Pick 9 may move back 2 or 3 spots at most.

Where as our two current picks could feasibly move back 4 or 5 spots.

However, it doesn’t really matter how far that pick 9 moves back, because it will still be the same kid available there.

Who ever gets that pick, gets the 9th best, non academy kid in this draft. Because the Bulldogs will trade it, guaranteed.

Look at any top 25 list, put a line through all the academy and father son kids, and that’s the real draft pool.

Ok? I said I'm happy trading our two current late 2020 firsts for it. I was saying I'd want a bit more back if we were going to risk our 2021 first. Obviously, our 2020 firsts will get pushed back further so no issue trading those straight up for the Dogs pick without anything coming back.

Without knowing anything at all about the strength of the 2021 draft, the risk of us slipping down the ladder and the possibility of changes to the NGA system (unlikely to be in place for 2021 I'd think but you never know) my point is that a 2021 future first is worth a lot more than either of the 2020 firsts we will have.

So that's why I'd want a bit more if we were going to trade one of our 2020 first and a future firsts in return for the dogs pick.

Constable to Sydney - Pick 26

Would seem reasonable, Id actually doubt we get that. The logic on player trade cost is somewhat more about hope than logic. A kid that one has hadly seen play , and only against other U18 kids being picked at 26 would be worth more than a kid thats been in system for 2 or 3 years , been trained in a system thats fair to say is a reasonable system.. and has form good enough to earn a RS nom...

What would you get for Ling ? for example..

The other issue is how many picks clubs take this year .... if lists must be reduced to 49 in total as one report I heard yesterday. 38 plus 2 roks... I wonder how many picks we take. I cant see us using anymore than 4... so I could see a P26 for Constable and a later pick ..if we are not going to use it..

My ideal off-season for Hawthorn would be to keep all the 2020 draft picks and maybe even try and add one more pick inside the top 30.

2020 draft
Pick 3: Key forward
Pick 21: Key defender
Pick 40: Downie (NGA)
Pick 45: Midfielder
Pick 59: Small forward
Pick 64: Small forward

2021 draft
(Keep all picks)

Trades: None
Free agents: None
Delisted free agents: No idea until the AFL release list sizes for next year

Melbourne has Hawthorn's 2nd rounder this year

would love Freo to get aggressive and try trade up to land McDonald. Pretty unlikely though.

Most likely stay relatively quiet, land a best available mid or DGB with our first & the academy guys later.

cant see Freo trading in, or FA big fish.

It's probably doable. Ignoring JUH and Campbell, we could still see Thilthorpe, Phillips and Hollands taken before McDonald. Freo need to move up the order if they want him, but potentially not too far. Could see North doing a trade with Freo to move down the order a bit, still secure themselves one of Thilthorpe or DGB, and be happy with it

Correct, it is trash. A whole lot of generic BS for each team.

West Coast's basically says they should possibly offer up a mid-tier player to get back into the draft.

They should contact Geelong about getting Jordan Clark.

Vardy could be squeezed out and it mentions Petruccelle being trade bait, but they obviously missed the memo that he's re-signed.

adelaide are the interesting one. They need a bit of everything.
mids are probably their biggest need though, especially if crouch leaves.

I wouldn’t be upset if Freo had Tilthorpe/O’Driscoll/DGB to choose from around their pick.

Depending on when the bid comes in for Campbell, we may well look to move back in the draft and split our top pick. It wouldn't surprise me if we did such a deal with Freo, Geelong, Gold Coast, or Brisbane

I think we'll slide below GC and Carlton before the season's out so that'll net us pick 6, assuming Freo finish ahead of Sydney and Crouch gets pick 2 as compensation.

Re-sign:

3+ years: Ridley, Saad, Langford, McGrath
2 years: Ham, Gleeson, Snelling, Daniher
1 year: Crauford, Mosquito, Stewart, Hibberd, Gown, Phillips (pending other available rucks)

Delist: Townsend, Laverde, Begley, Mutch, McKernan, Cutler
Retire: Bellchambers

Trades:

Parish for pick 11 (Geelong). Overly optomistic perhaps but he's a guy that can seriously play, and could be worth something to a team that wants a guy that can average 20 disposals and kick 20 goals for the year if in the right side, which I think Geelong is.

Future 3rd round pick for Willem Drew. Drew is a guy I can see being an immediate upgrade into our midfield. I like his defensive game and his willingness to block for others, something we haven't really had since Hocking retired.

SSP Jordan Snadden from the WAFL. I like his size and he seems to be putting up good numbers in the WAFL, can West Coast fans shed some light on him?

That gives us 41 players (34 senior, 5 Category A, 2 Category B) meaning we have 5 picks, at least 4 of which need to be senior listed.

Draft:

Pick 8 (post JUH/Campbell bids): Nathan O'Driscoll
Pick 14: Reef McInness bid then Zane Trew

Use the rest of our points to mop up bids for Brand and Eyre. Grab a young half back flanker in the RD.

Trade in- 2nd ruck, one of Nankervis, Coleman-Jones, Preuss, Sweet. If we have room one of Perryman, Caldwell or O'Halloran from the Giants would be ideal.
RFA- Zac Williams.

Best available mids in the draft + match a bid on Blake Coleman.

For collingwood.

After re-signings of:
Moore
De Goey
Daicos
Madgen
Keane
Greenwood (I would give him an extra year)
Lynch (need a youth ruck still)
Tohil? I'm half half on him.

Delist:
Broomhead
Wills
Appleby
Atu

Retire:
Varcoe
Dunn
Reid

Trade:
Shaz
Phillips?
Sier?
^ Last two still contracted til 2021 though.
If there is money left, try for a key forward someone that won't be too costly.

Draft:
Match bid on Reef (Mid/forward)
try to move up the order before a Bid and get any KPF available
get another KPD. I'n thinking we may need an intercept defender. Howe is already 30.

Adelaide:
Trade:
  • Brad Crouch out -> Compo pick 2 in
  • Atkins out for 5 years deal on GC -> pick 21 in (band 3)
  • Giants miss finals, pick 12
  • WB/2nd for Hatley
  • Pick 21 -> Caldwell

Draft:
  • Pick 1 - Bid on JUH, then go for Hollands
  • Pick 2 - swap with Sydney, for pick 4 and 2021/1
  • Pick 4 - Thilthorpe
  • Pick 12 - Perkins
  • Pick 20 - Trade for 2021/2 and pick 25ish - Poulter
  • Edwards, Borlase, Newchurch via FA

Sign up Solomon, Bassett, Neil Balme and a new head of fitness. Replace Godden Hart, Reilly, Hass.

I'm not asking much!

Willem Drew has signed a 2-year extension. Now contracted until the end of 2022.

Really? Damn. Would have thought he'd be looking for opportunities elsewhere given he only has 10 games in 4 years
