I thought there were a couple obvious incorrect disposals in the first half that weren’t paid. But you’re always going to get some howlers in a game of footy.

There were a couple of others that I didn't agree with, like Hunter shrugging the guy onto his back and then falling forward - that shouldn't be paid. But that was Q4 if I remember correctly.

Is it just me or is Treloar doing an enormous amount of media this year? Seems like Bont and the other senior players like Easton are doing nowhere near the amount of media that Treloar is.
He was doing a lot of media time before he came to us.

I found it interesting on the AFL app, Jason McCartney copping a please explain from the league after it was found he visited the umps at half time to give them a spray for what he saw as some pretty ordinary decisions against the Giants.
I recall the free tally being heavily in our favour for the first half, but the giants making up something like a 10 free difference in the second half.
I could be wrong on the figures, but it’s not a good look the umps getting spoken to by a GWS official and then heavily calling frees for the Giants from that point on.
Terrible look for Jason and a dodgy situation for the umps.

Will be interesting to see what comes of it.

Have a look at the latest video in the Treloar thread, interview with Luke Darcy. Heartbreaking.

Agree on all counts. I saw the free kick in our favour, but I couldn't recall too many incorrect ones. We were first to the ball and GWS were trying to put on a lot of physical pressure. We comfortably lead the disposal count, both contested and uncontested - so we clearly had more of the ball.

But later on, the free kick count had evened. So the first half was unacceptable - but the second half was fine (to balance it up).

I wasn't having a crack at him. Wondering if he is trying to prepare himself for a role post-playing.
Was just directing you to it if you hadn't seen it. I think he's just a refreshing, engaging chap with a story to tell. I like listening to him so probably many people do. Maybe he will do media in the future, he'll certainly be used to it.

I found the latest Barkly Street pod almost impossible to listen to. Usually really like it but it was basically two blokes talking over the top of each other in hysterics as though they were sitting around pi$$ed at the pub.

Couldn't agree more. Generally love Barkley street but last weeks one was almost impossible to listen to.

Nathan brown just said on the Sunday footy show that Sportsbet have paid out all bets on Melbourne for the premiership.

Seems Sportsbet thought last night was Melbourne’s grand final just like their fans

Good. Stay under the radar. No pressure.

This is brilliant by the club/council. Much needed investment in better community sporting facilities in the west, particularly Braybrook which is such a pivotal area in our history.

We used to occasionally train there/hold preseason matches there in the old days too didn't we?
Yes think it was 97 watched a preseason match against Collingwood there

The lack of accountability in sports media ******* shits me.

Don't get me wrong, this article is probably true. But there's no quotes, no allusions to sources, hell, not even any mention of having spoken to anybody from another club.

It is embarrassingly easy to look up a high draft pick in a good side who's not currently playing, and then write up sh*t articles like this one that say absolutely nothing but at the same time allude to ominous signs with absolutely no supporting evidence.

Ed Richards started this season in exactly the same position as Jason Johannisen, the only difference was that Richards picked up a serious injury. Richards very easily could have been in the team earlier than JJ, or be playing right now at somebody else's expense - we have absolutely no idea.

fu** 99% of sports journalism.

Interesting that the free kick count went GWS’ way after half time. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Late '70s. Barassi coach of North. Big game coming up. Tuesday evening Herald headline "BARASSI. UMPIRES DON'T GIVE BLIGHT ENOUGH PROTECTION". Follow up talkback, letters to the Editor. Saturday, North win, Blight kicks 6, 4 from free kicks. The rule about football insiders banned from criticising Umpires introduced (the 'Barassi Amendment Rule', up there with the 'Bont Amendment Rule' - no 3rd man up). Who did McCartney play for ('for whom did McCartney play') ? Conspiracy Theory Alert. Go after him, AFL, bring out the wet lettuce leaf.

Such a dodgy situation. As you suggest though, the league will just keep it in the shadow. Can see the media discussing the inappropriateness of McCartneys outburst, but that’ll be it.

Garry Lyon: "yeah, he shouldn't have done it...but he does have a point. Is it time to have a discussion about the umpiring in Bulldogs games"
