Yes Gary we should, when your second to the footy what free kick can you possibly get, 1. Holding the ball 2. Below the knees 3. Out on full as the bulldogs are first to the ball what free kicks can you get, 1. High 2. Hold 3. Block 4. Chop of the arms 5. The rest of the other 104 rules, so when were first to the ball I’d imagine we will get 25% more free kicks as you get reward for going in to win the ball ⚽️.

it's the 2016 melts all over again.

> get butchered around the ball

> be shocked and upset when the free count doesn't go your team's way

We def got the rub of the green that second quarter, but that’s horribly unprofessional.

Shock that it’s from the most useless list manager to ever draw breath.
Jason was list manager between 2011-2017.

Couldn’t have been too bad based on no salary cap drama and something that happened in 2016.

Ned Guy says hello.

Yeah we got a slightly good but not unreasonable run in the first half.

We were screwed over in the second half, especially dominating in the last quarter, where our efforts deserved more than four free kicks.

Giants blocked Naughton/Bruce whenever they had a 2-on-1 and barely gave away a free kick

The ‘royal flush’ that has AFL great declaring Bulldogs’ ‘time is now’

Andrew Jackson from Fox Sports
April 24th, 2021 12:01 pm

The Western Bulldogs have raced out to their first 6-0 start to a season in 75 years and Geelong great Cameron Mooney has declared it is “their time” to go all the way in 2021.

While experience is usually considered a key factor in determining a team’s premiership window, the Bulldogs of 2016 defied the odds.

They took out their first AFL flag in 62 years despite their playing group’s average age being 23.

Now the Bulldogs are right back in contention after an undefeated start, although Jackson Macrae said the team was not getting caught up in their early-season success.

“The maturity of the group - we are not looking too far forward or counting our chickens before they hatch,” Macrae told Channel Seven after the win over the Giants.

Macrae was only 22 years old when he tasted premiership glory in 2016 and is just one of the players who Mooney believes is both matured and primed to take the Bulldogs all the way again in 2021.

“Look it is [their time is now],” he said on Fox Footy’s ‘First Crack’.

“You have a look at the teams that win premierships early. We look at Essendon in ‘93, the Baby Bombers.

“It took them eight years, for that young group of boys, to win another one. Geelong, we nearly won in ‘04, we just got beaten by the Brisbane Lions in the prelim final, it took us three years later to win another one.

“The great Hawthorn in ‘08, it took them another five years to win one.

“This is five years since 2016. These are kids that were 19 to 22 years of age. Let’s be honest at 19 to 22 years of age if we all win premierships what are we doing? It takes you a long time to get your head right.

“They are all 25 to 28 now these boys - Bontempelli, Dunkley, Liberatore, Macrae - this is their time right now and it is absolutely set up for this group.”

Dunkley, one cog in the Bulldogs’ elite midfield, was injured in the win over the Giants along with Tim English and Lin Jong.

However, the Bulldogs should be in the position to cover any other future potential injuries, with Ben Dixon branding their midfield a “royal flush.”

“He [Luke Beveridge] has got the best midfield in the competition,” he said.

“We look at it - Bontempelli, Macrae, Dunkley, Liberatore, Treloar - they had only 157 possessions and then we look at the inside and outside, the contested and uncontested - double figures in both. That is an insane delivery from your midfield.”

That midfield charge in the centre of the ground, as expected, is also bringing the best out of the Bulldogs’ forwards too.

“The forwards are just loving life at the moment,” Mooney added.

“You look at all the great teams that win premierships and they’re stacked in the midfield.”

Macrae in particular stood tall against the Giants, finishing with 40 disposals, eight inside 50s, six tackles, six clearances and a goal.

The Bulldogs’ wealth of talent in the midfield does not stop there though and that is just what makes them so impressive in 2021 according to the ‘First Crack’ panel.

“We watched the VFL yesterday,” Mooney said.

“They’ve got great kids coming through that are pushing these guys and you talk about those premiership sides, they do it because they’ve got kids underneath pushing them during the week on the training track, on the weekend, so they don’t want to lose their spot, these kids are trying to get their spot. It is a great place to be.”

“You’re leaving out names like Bailey Smith and Lachie Hunter who would be starting in most other midfields,” Dixon added.

“Lachie Hunter has had to go play as a forward and looked pretty good and Bailey Smith has been a bit quiet, almost pushed out of that midfield even though some were hyping him up as a future Brownlow Medallist. It’s stacked.”

Lyon will give us something like ‘well, they’ve beaten nobody, something about free kicks, something about Friday being the real test, blah blah...hey, let’s talk about Melbourne. Down boy, down.’

He'll 'play' down the Demons when the other stooges give them and him a pump up, and then when they move on to other clubs, he'll compare them unfavorably to the Demons.

60 minutes of AFL360 on Monday night and not a single mention of the Bulldogs. 2.5 seconds of Bont snapping a goal in the closing credits was it. Absolutely disgraceful and disrespectful to the club and its supporters. If you are not a "big club" you don't matter. **** Fox Footy.

And now on On The Couch (don't know why I keep watching it) they are having a circle jerk about Melbourne.

I would have thought we get a fair share of media attention. We got a heap of attention in 2015 when we came from no where. The 2016 media attention speaks for itself. We got media attention in 2017 and 2018 for the wrong reasons (i.e. the wheels have fallen off). We didn't really get a lot of media attention in 2019 until late in the season when we entered finals at full steam, and we were talk of the town. A similar thing happened in 2020 when we finished strongly, although no where near as much coverage as the year prior.

We've obviously had our fair share of media attention this year.

Maybe you guys aren't watching the right shows, listening to the right podcasts, or reading the right bits of articles in the associated press.

To be fair Melbourne beat up on Richmond in a game many considered a toss of the coin. The Geelong - WC game was an astonishing result. Hawthorn / Adelaide was a cracker. Lots to talk about beyond an eventually fairly clinical game v GWS. We’ll be right in the spot light win or lose this Friday night.
