This flys in the face for those saying we didn't have cultural problem.
I don't know either way, but it is easy to look back and blame form on cultural issues when you have no evidence base that anything has actually changed.

The proof will be in how we go this season. Without any actual improvement it's all just noise.

I am quite prepared to believe that certain people have had a corrosive effect but I agree with you that it remains to be seen whether or not that had a big impact on our performance.
The time for talk is almost over. We need to back it up with some strong performances.

Helps when you get rid of 2 blokes who aren't buying in
That's it... Hunter seemed to be a bit of a train wreck with us and Dunkley was always going to leave.
Our key guns are installed in leadership positions and getting paid handsomely.
Sam Power has the list humming now it seems

I think we know more than we are willing to admit.

The language coming out of the club all summer has been about standards. This is an indirect way of saying our standards were not good enough in 2022.

Nothing wrong with admitting it. More important in how we improve/fix it.

That doesn’t necessarily mean cultural issues.

Some clubs have great culture but poor training standards.

One club in a league close to the one I was involved in had great culture. The players loved being there. They just trained like shit and got pumped most weeks.

A concern for me is that why wasn’t this drop in standards addressed last year? Who’s responsibility is it? If standards dropped why wasn’t it picked up? If it wasn’t noticed who was asleep a whole year? I agree it is important that it is fixed but you don’t have to wait a whole year.

The same can be said on the flip side.

Mid 2000’s Eagles had major culture issues, but were one of the best performing sides across multiple years.

and Hunter not able to kick on the nonprefered was often a problem

What players perceive as a "good culture" isn't always one that leads to high performance. Conversely, a culture perceived as toxic or unhappy might be one more conducive to high performance. I don't think you can make accurate judgements on a teams culture based on how they perform. There's also a lot of variation in what each of us would consider to be good or bad culture-wise. Then there's also the fact that a team's performance is made up of an enormous number of variables, one of which is culture but its not necessarily the most prominent explanatory variable. It's possible for a team to have a truly shit culture but still perform well based on the other variables that predict team performance.

I just don't think us as outsiders can ever make accurate judgements about what the culture of a footy club is like. I think there would even be disagreement between those at the footy club right now over whether the culture is good now, bad last year or whatever. It's too easy to say that when you're winning that must be because you had a good culture.

My guess is that when Bailey says "culture" he really just means the vibe of the place. I don't think culture dramatically changes from one year to the next, it takes years to foster a culture. But the vibe can shift on a dime.

His obsession with Bevo and the Dogs failing is nearly as bad as his obsession with Chad Warner, who still hasn’t been tested by having an opponent run with him yet.

I have 2nd hand embarrassment from his opinions.

Best part is we are his big slider yet he has us going from 8th to 10th! Huge slide! Yet he has Bont winning the Brownlow. If Bont takes home Charlie I guarantee you we are winning 15 games.

The Warner obsession is asinine. Currently Gulden is the better prospect and Mills currently the much better player. I'd be shocked if The Chad ever had a top 5 finish in his career.

It is possible to change the culture of a sporting team within the one season. I saw a documentary once on an American ice hockey team that we’re perennial losers. When the new coach and the players got on the same page and learned lessons about teamwork, playing for each other, having fun and realised it was not only about winning, they won the whole thing. The Mighty Ducks won the whole thing.

I think purple is too weak to report he believes Dunkley left because of Bevo and is hiding behind these predictions. Do not take piss at a dogs game Purple you may run into Bevo.
