It is bizarre. Next time this comes up (because it will) I'd like to ask this people who in their eyes is a better captain/leader than Marcus currently in the league?

Dawson - No
Andrews/Neale - No
Cripps - No
Darcy Moore - No
Merrett - No
Alex Pearce - No
Danger - Hell no
Witts/Miller - No
Greene - No
Sicily - No
Gawn - Can make the argument
Simpkin/McDonald - No
Jonas - No
Nankervis/Grimes - No
Steele - No
Rampe/Parker/Mills - No
Shuey - No

I think the No’s have it 😊

It’s almost impossible to quantify leadership without knowing the innersactum.

I think Bont is the best player on that list though.

Totally agree, my list is more to show that nobody jumps off the page as a Selwood/Hodge type captain. The closest is Gawn and he is more a laid back leader. Bont rules and the entire playing list looks up to him.

Bevo on 360 was a bit meh.

The only interesting bit I got was how he compared KWW to Peter Gordon - The way he was speaking sounded like he wasn't a fan of Gordon's ego and prefers how Kylie operates in the background. But that's just my read, he was pumping up the current prez and wasn't directly saying anything about Gordon, but he was definitely making more indirect comparisons.

Other than that I wouldn't say there was much meaningful insight. An inference that the '4 talls' is out the window in favour of running/speed was there, with how he addressed the talk of our fitness levels leading to how we changed our structure to address that.

Did like Dunstall instead of Robbo. Anyone instead of Slobbo works really...

...prefers how Kylie operates in the background. ..y...
The word is that Kylie was so instrumental in getting the Marvel naming rights that we are now bees knees at Headquarters, a far cry from the merger, relocation and young Gordon having to be restrained from a punch up with Ross Oakley. There's much to be said for the softly softly approach.

Well if that’s the case how about us losing to play Norf on Good Friday, we still play Collingwoods home game against us at Marvel, we still play Geelong twice a year, we play less games at the G than interstate club. Our home games are dominated by interstate clubs and our away games are to the bigger clubs, we rarely host them.

I abhor violence but if he had managed to biff Oakley on the schnoz he would just about have qualified for a VUWO statue alongside EJ.

He is a different player there somehow, Saw him drilling 40m kicks and even nailing a goal from near on 50m easily

Maybe Goodwin is less soft and cuddly, and more strict on sticking to the game plan? Or Hunter has just realised he better get his sh1t together or his AFL gig could well be over? Or a bit of both!

The AFL turns over $700 mil plus. Its fixture, it's not a draw, is designed to maximise attendances and revenue. Our club is a minnow. No matter how favourably it may (I'm repeating a rumour going 'round at a President's Lunch/Dinner, not vouching a fact) regard the Club, it isn't going to sacrifice revenue to accommodate a club currently in its good books, nor should it. On the other hand, we get our games at Ballarat and just about every other game in Melbourne is at Docklands.

That's correct DM.
Business is first priority. Footy comes second.

It's the price we pay for having a game that everybody loves to watch. :(

Hard to believe given his reputation that Clarko’s last finals win was 8 years ago in Bevo’s first season. He rolled the dice on their list management strategy and sent them to rock bottom.

Doesn’t mean he hasn’t earned his second chance. He’s just not the messiah.
Clarkson coached the 2008 flag where Geelong kicked 1 goal 9 in the 2nd and 11.23 for the match - 34 scoring shots to 25 .Geelong missed some sitters.

Hawthorn won the 2012,2013 & 2014 Prelims by 5,5 & 3 points respectively - there is an element of luck involved. Agree - he's not the messiah. He could have easily been a 1 flag coach.

Business and Footy aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. Ideally, it'd be a draw, not a fixture, but it isn't. We've benefitted in the past with assistance when needed, which can't be given unless revenue is maximised. As long as you insist on paying 22 year old footballers hundreds of thousands and AFL execs even more, then revenue has to have priority.

I liked Bevos comment on 360 that Garcia is in a straight jacket after 3x 50m penalties When asked to comment on coniglio’s dissent free kick 🤣

I love this about Garcia and I hope that he doesn’t lose confidence in the way he plays. If he could develop along the lines of a Prestia type it would be huge for us.
