Lines up exactly with what I’ve seen and heard and the thoughts of some others. While I’m sure he’s a good operator I know the club managed to balls up a very solid coterie by trying to squeeze it too hard for $ in the last few years.

Probably speaks a little of the club’s current attitude to supporters - you don’t have to let them be powerbrokers a la Essendon or Carlton but you also cannot look at them as walking talking ATMs.

If he’s aloof or disrespectful with supporters I don’t doubt he’s like that with people in footy, unless he needs to charm them. Absolutely needs to improve, but will only come if there are consequences.

I sat next to Ameet on a flight to Canberra and he was very happy to chat for about 20 mins. Pleasant bloke.

I’ve met him too. He was ok.

I’ve also seen some utterly stupid, arrogant responses he’s sent to fan emails that make him look like a total twat.

Do you have examples?
One fellow, who was not a nuff, sent a 30+ page analysis of where he thought things were going wrong post 2016. I don’t think it expressed many opinions you couldn’t find on this board, but he did support it with evidence, stats, references etc. Was at least well presented.

Received a response denigrating the work and effectively asking he leave it to the professionals.

Another wrote an email suggesting we get a kicking coach etc after a particularly bad loss and received a pretty unimpressive tirade.

I suspect they get a fair bit of ‘feedback’ and can understand it would be annoying, but surely you just ignore it or send a ‘thanks for your passion and we’re doing everything we can to improve’ type response and move on. That’s certainly what Garlick and Rose used to do.

To be fair to Ameet, with the review doc I think there was a polite acknowledgment of receipt first and he only returned fire when followed up for more, but he shouldn’t bite.

I sent him an email around 2017/18 and he rang my mobile and left a nice message saying hang in there.
If he did that then good on him.

The things I’ve been referring to have been in relation to quite critical emails (but not vitriolic or anything).

The responses I saw should not be sent unless someone is going seriously too far, and even then they should probably be ignored.

How's everyone getting Ahmeet Bains email address?

You’d be surprised how many big companies/high profile etc would still do the whole first name.last name combo, wouldn’t surprise me if it’s that haha

Years ago as a teen Everton fan I emailed someone after a player signed for Liverpool (same town rival) to voice my displeasure, they emailed back and asked exactly what they were meant to do lol

Like I said, I don’t care if he doesn’t respond. I care that he sends condescending garbage. He should outsource it to an assistant or ignore.

Having said that it’s very common in AFL land. A mate sent a nuclear rant to the Demons’ CEO in about 2020, got a call back and they now still text.

Fox Footy Article

Dual premiership Kangaroo fears the Western Bulldogs are “wasting another season” and should complete a full-club review at season’s end, claiming it’s “unfathomable” the talent-laden team is fighting for a finals spot rather than challenging for a flag.

The Bulldogs on Sunday had a significant slip-up in their bid to feature in September, losing to 16th-placed Hawthorn by three points and dropping to eighth on the AFL ladder with two rounds left in the home and away season.

Speaking on Fox Footy’s First Crack, King said he was flabbergasted a team of the Bulldogs’ ilk on paper were “scratching to make the eight”.
“To me, it’s going to be another wasted season,” King told First Crack. “Their most likely best finish will be sixth, seventh or eighth at best, so what does that really mean?

“Given what they’ve got at hand – and this is not a go at the coach – I think at the end of the year they need to do a full review of everything as a football club and say: ‘What are we missing here?’
“They’ve won four of their last 11 games. They’ve only beaten North Melbourne, Fremantle, Essendon and Richmond – and let’s be honest, everyone’s probably beating those teams at the moment. In the period we’re talking about, they’re the No. 1 clearance team in the comp, they’re second-best for contested possession – so what’s happening? They’re starting with the ball a lot, yet they’re attack is ranked seventh and their defence is ranked ninth. So what’s actually going on with the way they’re playing?

“I know they do it differently – and it’s OK to do things differently – but when you do things differently, you have to win, it has to work – otherwise you set yourself up to fail.”

Asked if the Bulldogs rely too heavily on talent rather than system, King said: “Well they’ve got to find out. This is why I say I think they need a full review.

“(Tim) English, (Marcus) Bontempelli and ‘Libba’ (Tom Liberatore) will probably be All-Australian this year and Bont could win the Brownlow … are they maximising this guy (Bontempelli) in the back-half of his career? He’s a generational talent. (Aaron) Naughton and Jamarra (Ugle-Hagan) have kicked 73 goals between them, so there’s not a lack of talent forward of centre.
“If you want to look at the squad there, Liam Jones is going to be 33 before the start of next year, Bont is going to be 28 in November … I know he’s got a lot of years left, but you’re running out of time with the quartet of Bont, (Jack) Macrae, (Adam) Treloar and Libba – I don’t even know what the story is with Treloar – so who’s taking over? They’ve had a lot of assistance with the father-son and academy picks over the last couple of years.

“I’m just concerned that this is just going to be another year they’ll tick off and say ‘we were unlucky there’ and nothing really changes. I think they really need to get to the bottom of what’s going on. I’m not saying it’s the coach, I’m not saying it’s the way they’re playing, I’m not saying it’s the list – it just seems like everything’s in great order, yet they’re scratching to make the eight. I cannot work it out.

“If they miss finals it has to be a savage review.”

With 47 seconds remaining in Sunday’s game against Hawthorn, Dogs ruckman Tim English took the kick-in instead of Ed Richards, leading to a bizarre passage of play that helped the Hawks seal an upset win.
King said it was “ridiculous” English took the kick-in, while the ensuing passage suggested they hadn’t done a lot of close-game scenario training.

“How can they not be ready for the two-minute drill given where they’ve been the last three or four years? They’ve been to Grand Finals,” he added.
“This is a team that should be at the pointy end of the competition, challenging Brisbane, Collingwood and Melbourne and being unbeatable at Marvel and in Melbourne – and they’ve got no idea what they’re doing when it comes crunch against a team that is just learning how to win.”

If the Bulldogs win their last two games against West Coast at Marvel Stadium and Geelong at GMHBA Stadium, they’ll make the finals due to their superior percentage.

But dual All-Australian Leigh Montagna suggested it wouldn’t be the worst thing if the Dogs missed the finals so it could “snap something” at the club – a sentiment King agreed with.

“Maybe they need to miss the finals to actually be honest with themselves: ‘What are we wasting here?’” King said.

SEN Article

Are the Western Bulldogs getting enough out of their list?

That was the question asked by Collingwood great Nathan Buckley after the Bulldogs went down 67-64 to Hawthorn in Launceston on Sunday.
While the Dogs are still in the top eight, the loss means they’re now equal on 11 wins with ninth and 10th-placed Essendon and GWS with two rounds remaining.

With Marcus Bontempelli well held by Conor Nash and Tom Liberatore being subbed out of the game with concussion after being nullified by Finn Maginness early, Buckley believes the Dogs don’t get enough out of their depth players.

“The questions need to be asked about Western Bulldogs and are they getting the best out of their crew?” Buckley asked on SEN Breakfast.

“They’re the number one clearance team, number two contested ball team.

“What we saw is (Conor) Nash and (Finn) Maginness are the two stoppers (for Hawthorn).

“Nash looked after (Marcus) Bontempelli for the best part. Bont had 23 touches, that’s not a big game by his standards.

“(Tom) Liberatore gets knocked out, but he wasn't touching the ball before that (with Maginness on him).

“When you take away their inside game, what it does is it highlights what the rest of the side looks like, and the rest of the side is just far too flaky in and out of the contest.

“They’re not reliable in their roles, there’s too much variation in what they give.

“When you've got high variation in your effort and your output, then you have high variation in the best and worst in what you produce as a team.”
Buckley’s co-host Kane Cornes was critical of the Dogs in the wake of the defeat as he put the heat on coach Luke Beveridge.

Cornes believes Beveridge was outcoached by Sam Mitchell and he called for the club to undergo a forensic review in the off-season to figure out why they’re not living up to the hype of their talented list.

“(Sam) Mitchell played Luke Beveridge like a game of chess yesterday,” Cornes said.

“Disposals were won 417 to 296, uncontested possessions were 286 to 180.

“They (Hawthorn) were allowed to transition the ball, change angles, the uncontested marks were 117 to 74 and they (the Western Bulldogs) could not shut them down.

“This is a team that had been accused of not setting their list up to win this year, this is a bad loss.

I'm a broken record on the Dogs, but who have they beaten this year?

“Their record against top eight sides (is poor), they conceded another six goals consecutively.

“They're one of the worst teams in the competition (at letting runs on), they have not been able to stop that.

“There’s just so many questions, as I said a month ago, there needs to be the most forensic review you have ever seen.

“Look at everything about what is going on to the Dogs, and to your point about the coach and maximizing what they've got.”

The Bulldogs will go in heavy favourites to pick up their 12th win of the season next Sunday at Marvel Stadium.

To qualify for finals, the Dogs may need to beat the Cats in Geelong in their final home and away game of the season.

David King reads this board, doesn't he?

Conveniently ignores (or missed the relevant posts) that our midfield, while stellar historically, is almost exclusively one-paced and struggles to match the spread of teams like the Hawks.

Heads up Kingy - if you read ALL the posts on here and use a compromise of the extremes, your articles will read even better! 😆
