On The Couch put up a table last night that had Bont ranked as the #1 player in the league this year.

His season to R14 was the #2 highest ranked since the system came into effect in 2010. Only GAJ in 2014 was higher.

Every other player in the top 5 ultimately finished top 2 in the Brownlow that year (3 1sts, 1 2nd - GAJ x3, Dangerfield).

I reckon Bobby Hill is a little hard done by in Mark of the Week. He features once and will surely win this weeks round. I thought he had 2 of the best 3 marks of the round, however. Kruger and Daniher were so so. Hill had first and second imo.

Noticed this in the Ed Richards article on the AFL website:

JUST in case the star-studded Western Bulldogs midfield wasn't powerful enough, Ed Richards has well and truly stamped his claim as a breakout star this season.

The 24-year-old played the first 108 games of his career off the half-back flank, providing a spark out of defence and a steady head under pressure.

It's lazy from a normally good journalist - while drafted in defence Richards played his early career across the wing and half forward!

For instance, Richards had just 9 rebound 50's from 17 games in the 2020 season, while having 42 inside 50's.

It's a little thing but getting facts right is part of the job!

Hope young Charlie’s doing okay, must be a strange feeling being plastered across the papers for something you haven’t done
I believe the AFL are investigating a flurry of text messages between Charlie and his brother just before the incident. Yes, you read that correctly, the AFL are investigating text messages between a non best 22 dogs player......and his brother.

I may or may not be making this up.

Disposals

Gun midfielder Adam Treloar (451) is enjoying a fine run of form this season, averaging a career-best 32.2 disposals. Not only is he finding plenty of the footy, but also using it extremely well at 72.5% efficiency. Treloar also leads the league for total disposals and average disposals at this point of the season.

Top five: Adam Treloar (451), Marcus Bontempelli (365), Bailey Dale (351), Bailey Williams (287), Lachy Bramble (260)

Marks

Defender Bailey Dale (96) leads the way for marking after 14 games, highlighting his aerial ability in the back-half. Averaging a career-high 6.9 marks per match, Dale’s best outing to date came against St Kilda in Round 6 – clunking 15 marks at Marvel.

Top five: Bailey Dale (96), Liam Jones (88), Bailey Williams (85), Tim English (84), Lachy Bramble (78)

Tackles

Skipper Marcus Bontempelli (78) leads by example on the tackling front, averaging 5.6 per game this season. Ranking above average, the 28-year-old is on track to registering career-best numbers if he can keep up this kind of pressure around the ball.

Top five: Marcus Bontempelli (78), Adam Treloar (67), Tim English (53), Ryley Sanders (50), Tom Liberatore (44)

Clearances

The skipper Marcus Bontempelli is also the current clubhouse clearance king, with 89 total clearances. His average 6.4 is a little under Tom Liberatore’s 9.5, but with 43 of those 89 being centre clearances, is helping his teammates get out of the middle quickly and effectively.

Top five: Marcus Bontempelli (89), Adam Treloar (87), Tom Liberatore (76), Tim English (42), Jack Macrae (35)

Goals

Young gun Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (23) is quickly establishing himself as one of the league’s emerging key forwards, booting 23 goals to date from 12 games. With 19 behinds, that output could be even greater if he straightens up a bit in the back-half, but regardless is on track to topping his career-best 35.

Top five: Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (23), Marcus Bontempelli, Sam Darcy, Aaron Naughton (22), Cody Weightman, Rhylee West (17)

Intercepts

Fellow young gun Sam Darcy (26) sits first in the club for intercepts this season, highlighting his growth to date in 2024. Having missed the past fortnight through suspension, the father-son Bulldog will be itching to get back to the action post-bye.

Top five: Sam Darcy (26), Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (24), Tim English (16), Marcus Bontempelli (15), Liam Jones, Aaron Naughton (14)

Spoils

Veteran Liam Jones (92) leads the way from a defensive spoils perspective – well ahead of any of his teammates. The 33-year-old is a reliable and composed key back, and on numerous occasions has helped get his team out of trouble in the back-half.

Top five: Liam Jones (92), Buku Khamis (35), James O’Donnell (32), Taylor Duryea (26), Tim English (25)

Charlie Clarke brother must be the biggest brain dead nuffy.

What an embarrassment to the family.

He's actually a legend. Who cares if he was a bit pissed and jumped the fence? He'll face the consequences, but calling someone a brain-dead nuffy and an embarrassment to his family without knowing them is just ignorant and presumptuous.

If anything it's just poor journalism by Tom Morris to even mention Charlie and Brayden's names in the post.

Is there any other kind?

The Western Bulldogs are pleased to announce that Airport Toyota will remain a Platinum Partner of the Club for a further two years.

The partnership extension will see Airport Toyota branding remain on all AFL men’s player and football staff polo and jacket sleeves until at least the end of the 2026 AFL season.

Coach Luke Beveridge will also continue in his role as a brand ambassador.

“Airport Toyota is thrilled to extend our Platinum partnership with the Western Bulldogs for a further two years,” said Spencer Jones, Airport Toyota General Manager.

“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to excellence, community engagement, and fostering a spirit of resilience and teamwork.

“Just as the Western Bulldogs strive for success on and off the field, we at Airport Toyota are dedicated to providing outstanding service and support to our customers and community.

“Together, we look forward to achieving new heights and creating lasting positive impacts.”

Bulldogs’ Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer, Kon Karavias, also lauded the partnership extension.

“We are delighted to maintain this terrific relationship with Airport Toyota, a brand we feel strongly aligned with,” Karavias said.

“Their support in engaging communities and supporting local footy clubs is testament to our shared values and we look forward to further collaboration in coming years.”

Airport Toyota is located at Essendon Fields, in the north-west of Melbourne, and have partnered with the club since 2021.

If you're one of his mates, then you're response explains everything.
