I've had enough of all of these kents already.

Nothing would satisfy me more right now than drafting H.Reid and watch him kick a bag against the tin-rattlers.

And anyone else wanting to entertain splitting the pick in this massively compromised draft needs to give themselves an uppercut as well.

Suns match and get pick 1 and we have pick 2 or we have Walter.
We get Walter, North get Reid and Curtin, Gold Coast get McKercher and us and Gold Coast are looking at each other asking 'did we win?' while Victorians file into the streets in celebration.

SANDERS NO DONE DEAL FOR ROOS
North Melbourne has made a submission to the AFL for draft assistance, but rival clubs remain hopeful that the Kangaroos won’t get their wish of gaining priority access to Ryley Sanders.
It is understood multiple clubs have made formal submissions to the league to express their concerns over the Sanders situation.
The Kangaroos have applied to have Sanders included in their Next Generation Academy as a Tasmanian product with Indigenous heritage.
However, even if Sanders was to be ticked off as an NGA prospect, the league would have to bend its rules to allow North Melbourne to match a certain top-10 bid on the star midfielder.
Under standard rules, Victorian clubs are unable to match bids on NGA players within the first 40 selections in the draft.
Questions have been raised over why Sanders did not train with North Melbourne during pre-season as part of the AFL Academy program.
He instead joined Tasmanian teammates Colby McKercher and Jack Callinan for a week at Collingwood.
Sanders won the Larke Medal as the best player of the under-18 national championships, averaging 35.8 disposals and five clearances across four matches for the Allies.
The AFL Commission will consider North Melbourne’s submission for draft assistance in Grand Final week.

Who are the 2 or so players in the top tier who have pretty much said they're mummy boys/flight risks & don't want to leave Vic?
(Not counting Reid's uncle)

After we take Harley Reid with Pick 1, hopefully 2 as we bid on Walter with 1.

The day after the draft we get Eagles legend Peter Matera who is living in Echuca to drive to Tongala to visit his family and present his jumper to him. From one eagles legend to a future one.

Doesn't the number one pick get a bunch of money from nab and some other stuff? (As well as being generally prestigious) There is a reason bids didn't come for Daicos and Ashcroft at 1 - I think bidding on Walter would just look vindictive and a little rude to Harley. Assuming we don't get their pick either way, what do we care if Gold Coast have to pay a few hundred less points?

Watson/Caddy.
So basically 5 of the top tier of the draft (9 picks) are effectively not available to us.
Walter, Read, Caddy, Watson and Sanders (assuming NM get sole access).

Leaving Reid, McKercher, Curtin, Duursma who will be likely gone by live pick 5 (unless someone bids for the players unavailable to us early)

So unless the 2 picks in a split are in the top 3 before the draft (with Walter bid & NM McKay compo) then it really isn't worth it.

TL;DR - just take Reid

What's his role? Didn't see much of the SA games big enough for a KPD?

No not a KPD plays very much in the Hurn role as a good defender that distributes the ball well out of the backline.
Reads it well, strong overhead, is poised and makes good decisions.

Yep. If there's even the slightest bit of truth to the rumours about Reid wanting to stay in Vic I wouldn't play funny buggers with bidding on Walter.

and then big question marks over how hard the afl will come for mckercher/sanders when the tassie club starts up
this draft is an absolute joke

If we did, what would be the goal? McKercher, O'Sullivan and Collard?

The thing is, even if Reid did request a trade back home after 12 months(highly unlikely), we'd still get at least 2 first rounders for him in a midfield heavy top 10.

Having 3 top 10 picks next year's isn't exactly a bad scenario, so I reckon we just take him.

Yeah I agree. I'm just spitballing. I'm all for that pic with Matera.

Wonder if Chesser and Long make the trip? Guess not with training resuming.

Actually, it'll be Simmo doing the jumper presentation anyway.

Yeah Chess and 'Ned' will meet Harley at Perth Airport

Impressive effort to get a Hawthorn player to meet him in Perth.
We should try to trade in Ned Long just to mess with commentators

I would love it if the AFL gave north the finger.

'Sure you can add him as a NGA prospect, but you only get to match if he's there after 40'.
