Doc, if you take our beloved Sandhurst as an example (in Division 2) we have to play aways games against Castlemaine, Kyneton, Maryborough & Strathfieldsaye anyway - even under the current set up.Once the clubs get used to the idea of not playing traditional rivals, this will be a great set-up. Only drawback is every 2 or so weeks, you have to drive between 1-2 hours for a game
Yes there will be away games against Melton, Melton South, Ballarat North and Sebastapol but one of those aways games will replace Gisborne (now in Division 1). So over an entire season the Dragons would only have an extra 3 trips on the road - or 4 hours of extra travel in total. Is that such a big deal!
Of course the other factor is you still only need one Goldfields League Board/Administration/ CEO. The (considerable) savings here could go to the clubs as extra dividends - maybe as much as $5,000 a club - or more.
hairy did win, on like 122 votes, then came geary on 108, an maddern on like 103 or something. the system is every player is rated out of 10 for each game they play. so if you played every game, you'll get at least 18 votes. lol

i like the old way, 3 cards of 3. 2. 1. or 5.4.3.2.1.
there would have been a different winner if it was that way.
SaturdayCan someone please clarify the days & start times for this weekends senior finals at the QEO - website says one thing and then this weeks edition of the Weekly Times another
Is that the reason for so many specialist coaches at Flat? It would take 2 hours after each game to do the votes.[/quote]
good one max
do you not think that a change of scenery would renew intrest down at a club that is struggling atm.
bigger matches against old rivals
What a shame that the folk down Gisborne way seem to think that a "change of scenery" is what they need every 10 years or so to keep their supporters interested. I imagine should Gisborne choose to join BalFL and resume some old rivalaries then crowds would be big as would the almighty dollar through gates, etc. But after the novelty has worn off, what then? There's a word for those who change partners so easily.

you would no the word well wouldnt you ?
didnt you have a slight hiccup with the same situation not so long ago ?
Did anyone decide to turn up and watch the spectacle that the BFL think it is in the night final tonight. Or was it just the usual ferals from either side there.
I attended the match last night and thought that it was a reasonable crowd considering the rain that pelted down before the start of the seniors. Grandstand was pretty much full and there were a few people over on the Aquatic centre wing shelter, and rotunda. Think the Satday night game worked well as I saw a lot of district supporters at the game - who wouldnt be there otherwise, if the match was held during the day.Did anyone decide to turn up and watch the spectacle that the BFL think it is in the night final tonight. I would think Darryl Wilson will be pretty happy with what he saw yesterday at the QEO. On the match itself, Flat dominated preceedings after Qtr time, and to kick 20 goals in tricky and greasy conditions was a fair effort !
