Don't think he has the smarts for the midfield. On the wing maybe, but not on the ball.

Half back he has played a lot of good footy. I've really liked him pinch hitting up forward too. We are well stocked up forward though and I'd rather leave it open for Lloyd and Lucas + crumbers then have another marking target in the way, so backline for me.

mate this guy should be playing chb...he has the bulk, ability and height....on song he would be great there

no way!!!! Imagine McPhee playing on Jon Brown, Pavlich or Lucas (not that thats possible).

I am probably going to receive a lot of hate replies after this but i think he should play in the Mid (wing), Our HB line of Fletcher, Ryder, Nash, NLM, Welsh and Slattery is alredy pretty tall, in the midfield he could do wonders, he's got the great endurance of a mid. Also, he's not too good under pressure but when he's got space, he can really make and impact. The backline will provide way too much pressure, where as if he ever gets space on the wing, he can really fix the entries into our forward line which with Lloyd, Lucas, Davey, Gumby and Welshy, is more than capable:thumbsu:

not sure could hold players like pav, buddy and jono i think fletch and michal do that well.

Mcphee gives us great run of the backline up to the midfield. He aint got the best shot for goal on him so the backline it is.

I would like to see a Mc on each HFF - both are great competitors with strong bodies and experience which could really help out our marking forwards. McPhee looked good when sent forward this season and the change of scenery may well give him some new life.

Centre.. Great aerobic capacity. good speed. Great mark. Normally good disposal generally makes good decisions and kicks long.

McPhee should only play half back. He has only ever been good at running in one direction and has often been found out playing on bigger forwards. On a half back flank he is generally going to be taller, stronger and just as athletic as most half forward flankers. McPhee tends to get lost in the midfield and with essendons established and developing players in the forward line, there is no place for him there.

i think that he would be best suited to a looser player possibly on there least damaging forward, the problem is that fletcher plays this role just as well and has a more damaging kick. but after fletcher retires it could be mcphees role, he has all the tools great mark good pace nice kick and is strong over the ball.

He has the body to play almost anywhere. Wherever he is played however his decision making must improve. I think that his skills are quite adequate, so I am attributing most of his errors over the last couple of years to decision making. He has been turning over out of the backline, choosing wrong options going foward and quite often holding onto the ball for much to long. Probably with the depth in our foward line a HBF or wing role would best suit him.
The best game i remember McPhee having this year was a game in which he was given a job to do on a handy opposition player. Forgive me for not remembering the specific game or player but it seemed to give him more purpose than usual and give him something more specific to aim for. Maybe this run with role could be an option, he does have the body to go with most players.

where is the "bendigo" option?

//ducks for cover.

i think he will spend the majority of his time off a wing this year, with spells on the half back flank

he was a fantastic attacking half back before he got OP :(

are you talking the same mcphee that looks like a rabbit in headlights as soon as he hits the 65m mark with no idea whether to short pass, kick long or run to 50 and take a shot?? also i think his kicking eff % last year was in the bottom 25% of the league (i'll try to find the source on that..)

but i like his run and dash and i thought in 2000/2001 was one of the first really really good "running" half backs/wingmen... i'd like to see him play that role because can exploit most mids for height/mark and run all day..

Half Forward Flank playing as a lead-up player. Has a good pair of Hands and would be a dangerous player.

Either that or on a wing, he could be a very dangerous player for us there.

roaming CHF with Scotty & Lucas playing closer to goals
the forward line has Lucas & Lloyd as the main goalscorers & marking targets, the ruckmen will drift in & out, Welsh & Davey add the defensive aspect that had been lacking for years, but I'd like to see McPhee as a long-leading CHF after the style of Reiwoldt. He's got a fairly long kick on him, & is an underrated shot on goal. Also adds a bit of cunnox. Nobody's scared of Lloyd or Lucas, they're both too nice to hit anybody.
