Which club do you hate the most?

I hate Essendon with a passion... 1st choice ( OK, I am over 50...)
I hate Joel Duckwood (and Chapstick).... 2nd choice
I didn't like how Bud went (all the baggage) ..... 3rd choice (but well down on the scale compared to the other two)

Yep, one of the great disappointments. When he's on he is a world beater, super fast,
can jump, great hands and magnificent kick however an electron microscope has been
searching for his heart since 2011.

Melbourne are too deeply mired in abject irrelevance for me to have any emotional response to them, apart from maybe a thoroughly half-hearted "meh".

Sorry but Geelong are way down on my hate list (my dad's cousin played for them in their 63 flag side and was a star during his time at Geelong). Melbourne on the other hand are at the very top of my hate list, a fair way ahead of Essendon and then Collingwood. My hate for Melbourne was born in my first year of primary school in 1957 when a Melbourne supporter in my grade went out of his way to inform me that Hawthorn was crap. Melbourne at that stage won flags in 55,56,57,59 and 60. So I got an earful most Mondays every footy season. I couldn't point out that Hawthorn had made the finals in 57 for the first time because Melbourne won the flag.
In 61 I had a moment of revenge when we beat Melbourne in the 2nd Semi. He told me that it was a fluke and they would beat us in the grand final. They lost to Footscray the following week and then we beat Footscray in the GF. I was told on the Monday that even though we had won the flag we were still crap because they had 10 more than us. Back in those days there weren't many Hawthorn supporters around, only me and a girl. Her Grandfather, father and uncle had all played for Hawthorn, while another uncle had played for Melbourne and a cousin was then playing at Hawthorn. She was much bigger than him so he never bothered her.
They won again in 64, but by them I was at a different Secondary School to my antagonist. I was walking from the Box Hill station a couple of weeks after the GF only to hear shouted out, "Hawthorn are crap." He'd seen me across the road and couldn't miss out on giving it to me.
When the merger with Melbourne was proposed I was horrified and had already decided that if they merged I would not be a supporter. Thank god for Don Scott.
A couple of years ago we had a school reunion, and there he was. I couldn't help myself and pointed out how long ago it was since Melbourne had been successful. Poor Melbourne had been in the wilderness longer than Hawthorn had been up to 1961 and that Hawthorn now had 13 flags to Melbourne's 12. He wasn't impressed when I asked who had kicked 6 goals in the 89 GF when my reply was, Paul Abbott and Melbourne.
So stick Melbourne on your list of hated teams so I can select them.

Did he actually remember that he used to torment you in this way or did your undiluted glee at serving it up to him come as a bit of a shock?
I mean 60 years is a long time to wait to get the final word.

Probably has to do with Sydney getting buddy shortly after beating us in 2012. Off back of cola. While at time poll created Geelong was seen to have earnt success. Dislike since then more for scotts antics, perceived hocking favouritism but also tempered by Geelong not winning a flag (also we see many cats fans now want to boot Scott).

Nah mate. It runs a lot longer and deeper than that. Losing Buddy was not enough to generate hatred.
