Who can beat Adelaide? [Update: I was wrong. Someone can]

If that one decision caused Richmond to drop their bundle so badly that they turned a narrow lead into a 76 point flogging over the course of 3 quarters then they were never going to win anyway. "Mentally weak" barely begins to describe that.
Just another office day for Richmond in the last 36 years.

Cats lost to a bottom side in Collingwood and are yet to play Giants, Crows, Dogs, Tigers or Eagles. Cats will be scraping the bottom half of the top 8 barrel if that! We're not much good.

I hope you are, truly.

Mind you, I have you in the top 4 teams currently. Just for some reason you shit yourself at the sight of prison bars.

In his defense, i reckon Port were stiff to lose that Showdown. Had they kicked straighter they would've won instead they left the door ajar and the crows snuck in. Nothing wrong in Port supporters believing they can knock us off next time we meet.

Had we made the most of our dominance in the mid part of the game, it would have been a 10 goal margin.

What ifs don't mean shit.

I don't fear Port at all, we'll beat them in the next showdown providing we don't lose half our squad to injuries.

Adelaide look great atm but i still have big question marks over them. The main one being will their game plan stand up in finals? It failed pretty bad last year ( same can be said of WCE) has anything changed in regards to this?

Mixture of ball movement/structures has gotten sharper (the first time in 4 season we've had the same coach for two preseasons), our defensive pressure has improved and our forward line isn't as reliant on slingshot football to score huge.

One thing we've really started to own this season is that 40-55 range this season in the forward line.

It's not about wins and losses. It's about how the team performs during games. It's not a predictor.

A side could be performing well enough but be 2-4 (Collingwood) through bad luck and still be in line for finals (which they are).

At the end of the year it balances out.

I'll get my collection of beans out...

Any team with a ruckman that can edge Jacobs, a midfield that will win more of the ball and has either super dangerous ground level forwards or can lock down on Smith and Laird. Port got 2 out of 3 hence pushing them, but Smith and Laird gave them enough drive to supply their F50.

Their's a few teams that can give them some headaches later in the season in the Bulldogs, Port, GWS, perhaps WCE if Nic Nat can return and have an impact and Collingwood if they get their shit together, but they're flying right now. Their ball movement is so pure ATM (Geelong 07 levels) that it'll take a mighty effort to roll them.

FWIW Geelong won't get near them unless Dangerwood combines for the game of all games.

I don't know if there have been major changes to the game plan itself, but there have certainly been significant improvements to the way it is executed. Two areas in particular that were probably the biggest issues last year. One is contested ball - significantly better in that area so far this year, and that was what killed us in the semi final against Sydney. The other area that is hugely improved on last year is pace through the midfield. Removing Thompson and Lyons from last year's side has enabled an injection of pace into the midfield with guys like Cameron and Milera, in particular, spending a lot more time in the midfield.
Don't forget Hampton and Knight. Those 2 have been very important as well.

Apparently Janus knows that being rated 1st in a category means you're unable to get even better at it!

I didn't know the AFL had put a limit on the amount of tackles a team was allowed to lay per game and per season. Hopefully the Crows don't hit the cap before the finals come around or we could be in trouble.:drunk:
Well we all know that Janus knows everything. His statistical analysis is the highlight of everyday on BF.

I think the major change might be the players memories of how they finished last season. If that diesn't motivate them to do better, then thats a problem.

Maybe we can upset the crows in the wet on Saturday?

Would be amazing
I honestly think North are a chance. Especially down there and our reliance on quick ball movement.

After you guys we have Melbourne, Brisbane and Freo. That rounds out our first ten games.

Statistically I cant see us winning ten in a row

I would rate North then Melbourne as the two sides most likely to stop that happening.

I haven't actually had the chance to watch much of the Crows yet this season, but their results are speaking for themselves at this point. Not sure what Geelong was doing to them last season, but it seemed to stifle their run from halfback and cause them problems both games.

Hopefully they haven't worked it out yet either.

Just want to say 'hats off' to Crows supporters in here - they're good sports and dealing with the early favouritism well.

i agree. i think there was martin ''throw'' as well. we threw it around a fair bit. i suppose pykey has realised if other teams can play rugby, why not us as well. umpiring could seriously determine the result of a game. i did not enjoy us getting a bit of ride. You cringe a little and feel a bit guilty. You want to beat your opponent purely on football class. However, we probably would still beat you guys by around 40 points deservedly.

What a load of s***.
