I think you guys win this year, time is not up, though it’s running out. But at the end of the day if it’s a couple of mediocre performances rather then what we both expect as supporter groups then whoopdy do, who cares. Last season was exciting as both of us went deep, this season looks to be an anomaly and you guys look to get one on us.

Both sides need to turn the form around quickly, as my mob need to most likely win 4-5 of last 6 just to make 8, where as your mob similiar to make top 4.

If Blues don’t turn around form then I fear it’s a wasted season, my boys have been shite for most of it but at least this group will always be known as a premiership group. You can spin anything you like but the name of the game is not individual accolades, it is Premierships, that’s the beauty about sports is that someone say like Billy Frampton is not rated externally by anyone except those at Collingwood, he will forever be able to show his kids and his grandkids his premiership medallion. Nathan Buckley would trade all his individual accolades for 1 premiership medal I believe.

As Cripps is getting older, I feel Carlton need to snag a flag with him as he is such an inspirational leader for you guys whom others follow, but he is running out of time in his career if you guys fall away this season.

To steal a quote from one of your posters here.

Tick tock
Tick tock

Nothing unreasonable about this post. However, I do think Cripps will be playing good footy for another 2-3 years if he stays healthy. Inside mids generally stick around longer than people assume, their bodies are built for the bash and crash.

As for our window, tick tock indeed. Years come and go very quickly and they're bloody hard to win, this year is a good chance as Sydney are the clear #1 but are still iffy at the MCG. No guarantee we get a better chance than this.

I am actually surprised that Carlton has strung enough good games together to still be in the top4 tbh. I'd like a second real KPD on the list before I got any real confidence. I suspect that the internal coaches understand the weaknesses of the list a tad more than teh supporter base. Voss is mucking around a lot with trying to sort out enough options in teh between the arcs set ups - the last couple of weeks of selections have been definitely in the 'experimental' basket.

As for the topic - I'd say both teams are in the same situation are finals - Collingwodo are genuinely backs to the wall - and that is not necessarily a bad thing.

Form that perspective I can understand how Collingwooders have not given up - yet.

I'd rather be in Carlton's position though - Voss can always get serious and there are now a few unspoken about for long time players that featured well in finals last year but haven't been able to get on the park as yet and are being played in VFL - in particular - Cuningham and Martin...and maybe but not convinced Motlop.

PS - such a sad shame Docherty has copped an ACL (his third) - he would have been very very handy this year - Carlton having to carry a couple of flaky players between the arcs is being exploited every week.

You all just need to relax. There’s still plenty of time for either of these teams to prove they’re worthy of losing to Sydney in the grand final.
As I've said a few times, we can't argue with that...

There are currently a dozen teams vying for the silver medal, akin to the 100 metre runners whose careers coincided with Usain Bolt...

carlton fans celebrate.... being above collingwood on the ladder after a loss in round 18?

Wrong, we are celebrating being above Collingwood and Brisbane.

Yes for your sake I hope Cripps stays fit and healthy, it’s a pleasure watching him play, even if it is for you blokes. He has had injury issues in the past, and I wonder how good he could of been if not for the bung back he played with for a season or two.

I also think the MCG suits the Swans better then the SCG, no side in the comp comes close to there running ability, the youngsters they have run and spread all day long.

Anyway, plenty to play out. Let’s see how it unfolds, it will still be interesting even if my boys happen not to be there in 2024.

What do you think the title of the thread actually means ?
Pretty much everyone has admitted to the title thread Worm. You are the only one who keeps rehashing it.

The hackles that stand up on your back are hilarious everytime someone says something positive about Collingwood and negative about Carlton.

I just keep it relevant to the thread. I talk about other Carlton stuff on different threads all over the site, some positive, some negative, some about players from other teams, and my team, but I keep it relevant to all of those threads as well. Talking about celebrating being above Collingwood at round 18 is just to do with the thread , nothing more. We talk about our deficiencies on the Carlton forum

Carlton have been underachieving under Voss.
2021 Carlton: 8W 14L (13th)
===== Voss hired =======
2022 Carlton: 12W 10L (9th - missed the 8 by 0.6%)
2023 Carlton: 13W 9L (5th - made it to a PF)
2024 Carlton: 11W 6L (2nd end of Round 18)

What year were you expecting Carlton to do better since Voss took over?
