Essington failing is about the only consistent and reliable thing in the AFL. If only the umpires and tribunal could be half as consistent.

West Coast are very marginal favourites. No need to over do it.
Collingwood beating Brisbane yesterday, who were playing for top 4 and a genuine premiership contender, eclipses a potential Carlton victory against West Coast. The latter are a side that have lost to Essendon, St Kilda and North Melbourne at home this year.

And yet here I am doing both...odd
And now Carlton only need to beat one of the worst sides of the past decade to effectively end Collingwood's season. One of their most important games this century. Could actually be a "monkey off the back" style game if they win it. Let's see.

At best were both only a chance to scrape into the bottom of the 8 so its a bit of a cripple fight at this point
True, but I still think for Carlton supporters sanity they need to sneak into the 8 and finish above Collingwood to take something from this season. With their current injury list they would find a way to turn that into a heroic triumph for season 2024.
