If you don't have Jagga in your team, you'll be very very sad.Suggests to me there are carlton bargains in supercoach
According to DraftGuru:Except.... Owies is no longer at Carlton.
Where do Fogarty, Moir, Motlop and Williams rank?
Fantasia is a D at bestAccording to DraftGuru:
Motlop C+, Williams B, Fogarty C+, Moir D, Cooper Lord D, Fantasia B Not enough information on Moir and Lord , even if they have played promising games. Even Jagga will be a D at this stage but for list comparisons he may be a C or even C+. After playing a full season Calsher Dear a C and the Wizard C+.
Apart from Lewis and Dear the Hawks list is generally healthy, whereas there may be durability question marks about some of the better Carlton players. (Curnow, Walsh, Cerra ). Williams, Docherty probably miss games throughout the season, Saad also.
Incidentally Mitchell has spent about $1.7 million in SC recruiting a 29 and a 26 year old, both of whom are only rated as B grade players. We was robbed.
I think there's 2 other teams that will be comfortably better than us in the regular season so I'm not going to be upset about missing top 2. Top 4 yes, but think 2 would be a fair stretch.Carltons time is now. If I was a Carlton supporter, I'd be pretty filthy if they don't finish top 2 with a good draw and the top end talent they have.
It would be nice for the Hawks to finish the way they finished in 2024 however there is still time.
I just love the confidence and bravado of a supporter of a team who's not going to be upset if their team doesn't finish top 2, but will be if they don't finish top 4 - when that very team hasn't finished top 4 for more than two decades...Don't worry Fadge... the Pies are not one of them
Easiest draw in footy in 2025 Fadge. Even if I don't think we're certain to be the one of the best 4 teams in it, I still think we finish top 4 this season on the back of being above average and having an extraordinarily soft draw.I just love the confidence and bravado of a supporter of a team who's not going to be upset if their team doesn't finish top 2, but will be if they don't finish top 4 - when that very team hasn't finished top 4 for more than two decades...
Hewett Walsh and Cerra not hard nuts? TDK?Cripps is big, strong, an absolute bull and one of the best in congestion but put someone on him that breaks even …… you will more often than not win the midfield battle against the Blues.
Blues midfield could struggle against the top teams as you need a few hard nuts to get you through a long season and then (if you do make it) in finals when it gets hot in the kitchen!
The issue with Carlton's midfield in 2024 was not the lack of hard nuts. In fact it was quite the opposite - too many hard nuts and not enough able to spread from the contest and get to the outside. Hopefully Cerra stays fit and helps with this (as he did in 2023) plus the addition of Smith and imo some extra midfield minutes for E.Hollands.Cripps is big, strong, an absolute bull and one of the best in congestion but put someone on him that breaks even …… you will more often than not win the midfield battle against the Blues.

Lmao have you even watched him play at the Blues? Goes in as hard as anyone.Cerra hard nut
An outside Mid (didnt say he was a squib, your words)Lmao have you even watched him play at the Blues? Goes in as hard as anyone.
What would you describe him as? An outside squib or somethin?
Hawks had 2 players average over 10 CP in the last 2 seasons - Worpel and Newcombe. Cerra would have been a third at 10.1 in 2023.An outside Mid (didnt say he was a squib, your words)
Got moved to half back for periods
Not a hard nut

This is his usual role, in and around the ball as one of our best defensive midfielders. He was moved to half back for a couple of games coming back from injury this year.
Clearly haven't watched him much if you think he's an outside mid since being at Carlton.
Was actually 5 normally with Kennedy being the 5th. Hence why we moved him on despite being a very solid player.Really
Our two main inside mids averaged high Contested Possessions, who would have thunk it
And our game plan relies on spread from the contest and open play, clearly haven't watched us enough if you think we need high CP numbers to succeed
So you play 4 inside mids in Walsh, Cripps, Hewett and Cerra, doesn't seem economical
Explains a lot about your issues with spread from the contest and fast ball movement
Not all players are either inside or outside mids. Cerra/Walsh can do both very effectively. A player can be a "hard nut" and still be very effective at spreading from the contest. So you play 4 inside mids in Walsh, Cripps, Hewett and Cerra, doesn't seem economical
Just as I'm sure they'd say Day goes in hard at the contestNot all players are either inside or outside mids. Cerra/Walsh can do both very effectively. A player can be a "hard nut" and still be very effective at spreading from the contest.
Yes... I'm sure the competition is living in fear of the 0 time All Australian midfield superstar that is Duke Newcombe.View attachment 2204873
The bloke in the background of this photo looking real ominous.
I assume our social media team haven't uploaded an in-focus picture of Nuke because of the sleepless nights it would have caused all opposition midfielders.
Yeah he isn't off one of themYes... I'm sure the competition is living in fear of the 0 time All Australian midfield superstar that is Duke Newcombe.
I think a more terrifying prospect is that Clarence Oliver looks like he's finally off the cheeseburgers and gear, a player far better than Newcombe has ever been.
Thank Christ he didn't end up at Geelong.
Newcombe is a very good player. He is not a player opposition clubs 'fear' like Bont, Cripps, Daicos, Trac, Butters etc.Yeah he isn't off one of them
If you can't see the obvious abilities of Newcombe, your just biased or lack knowledge, pick one
