Rumour has it he's still waffling on about Jack Silvagni being included in some Carlton best 22s
I'm not the one who wrote an article about how many games each club's best 22 missed through injury, nor am I the one who shared it on BigFooty without understanding the underlying data to prove some sort of point as to why my team failed to contend for the premiership for the 25th consecutive seasons...

So is Silvagni in your best 22? Or would he have been in 2024?
Played 21/23 games in 2022 and played 16/18 games in 2023 before doing his ACL. Likely would have played a lot of games again in 2024 had he been fit especially with Martin only managing 3 games. He's in my best 23 for 2025.

See, that's the thing.

Your best 23 is different to Wormy's best 23 which will be different from CArr0w's best 23.

It's all opinion based, and should in fact change based on opposition match-ups. Not to mention a 'Best 23' is almost never going to be available anyway, hence the importance of depth and versatility.

That is why a table of 'games missed by best 22/23 players' would vary greatly based on who compiled that list, so is of little interest to me when looking at which team was more impacted by injury across a whole season (because that's what the Carlton folk love doing).

But then you try and dissect who was impacted more by injury, by sharing your "opinion" on the matter

Of course it's about squad mentality, and you can probably narrow it down further to around 30 odd players, but continuity to your better players is the number 1 aspect in team sport

Having the best, deepest and most versatile playing list is the most important thing in AFL football.

Because if you don't have that, you'll fall away quickly when the inevitable injuries come.

Which is what we've seen from the current Carlton squad.

Continuity of your best players comes next.

1st to 9th is a big drop, i consider that due to the fact Pies had no depth as well and you watch age catch up with them quickly.

Good thing it will never be a problem for Carlton - 'having such a big drop from 1st', in the same way that you'll be able to keep the impressive Grand Final record against Collingwood from the 20th century in tact, by continuing to avoid playing in Grand Finals.

"Never" i like that

Impacts all sides, which you would understand given the Pies 2024 season
