He doesn't lack "accuracy"

33.13 this year, 27.12 last year

Set shots within 40m you can put down your glasses, came in handy a few times
I don't know why Pies fans are still trying to get us all up in arms about Owies lmao.

You all referred to him as a spud for years, clearly none of the Blues fans around here are worried about missing him either... I don't get what u lot are trying to achieve? None of us give a toss that he got traded

I hope Carlton are better in 2025. It has been an awful century so far for them. Almost a quarter of the way through and they have finished above the Pies 4 times. No premierships, most wooden spoons, multiple false dawns.

It is a credit to their supporters that they are still prepared to step out in public, and in forums like this, proudly displaying their colours. Less resilient folk would be far too ashamed.

Good luck baggers.

Think Pie supporters are still frustrated with 1st and 2nd Schultz, when they could have had a more productive version in Owies for peanuts

Laughs keep coming
It adds to the list of poor trading, drafting and salary allocation decisions we have made over the past 10 years or so. Incredible to think we've won a flag, been in another GF and multiple prelims and other finals despite this. Must frustrate you guys deeply.

Yep, Pies are laughing all the way to regular premiership contention.

The Ubershizens laugh in October and November, and start to cry in July and August each year when they're reminded they're nowhere near the genuine flag contenders.

Why would it frustrate me, I've seen 8 flags, to your 3, max

Yes he is an accurate kick from within 40 as you say but that's simply not enough to justify a starting position in a team trying to win a flag. He lacks pace, positional awareness to crumb off the talls, which is critical with Curnow/McKay down there and also provides no real defensive pressure. He's also not overly athletic or provides any sort of positional versatility which limits his potential impact even more.

I'm not saying you need to have all of these traits to be a good small forward but when you have none of them and you are 28 at the start of next season it makes sense why we were happy to move him on. Williams/Fogarty are already better players imo and Motlop is 20 with a far higher ceiling than Owies.

Those 24 goals Schitz kicked for the year and the 61 % disposal efficiency clearly would have tipped the scales in Carltons favour.
NewsAlert- he is BOG average
Are you trying to say his average is BOG?

Hes a gun small forward.
That Carlton backline gave up a WHOPPING 9 points more than Collingwoods this year. Not bad for a 2 man defence
So you're saying Carltons defence is worse than Collingwoods? We knew that.

Sure.

Playing the Bulldogs, or St. Kilda at the MCG instead of Marvel Stadium is a 'significant advantage'...
Getting 12 home games in back-to-back years is a significant advantage yes. Especially when it is against a Marvel tenant that don't play at the G' nearly as often

It is a head scratcher. We’re not even rivals with the Dogs, yet they’ve gone out of their way to request a home game against us at the G. I suppose we can do it for them if they really want it.
I wonder if the Bulldogs are aware of the 'significant advantage' they are giving Collingwood by requesting to play a home game against them at the MCG?

The fact was that in 2024 the Pies played a "home" game at Marvel against the Dogs.

Everyone knows the fixture aint equal, some clubs get a soft one (Port and Carlton in 2024) and others are shafted.
Again that is agreed to as part of your contract. This is an advantage Collingwood get in back to back years no other club gets.

The contract is for 14 MCG games, 9 home and 5 away.

Whether it is an away game against WB, Ess or Haw aint relevant to the contract.

The fact is, that like 2024 it is just the regular contractual agreement.
