Agree!

I've never seen a bunch of supporters overrate themselves on the back of zero like the hawks do. They pretty much fluked a flag in 07.

In typical Sydney supporter style you have displayed your footy knowledge right there.

So to help you out.

The Hawks finished 2nd on the ladder in 2008.

They then beat the teams that finished 3rd and 4th by 10 goals.

They then tore Geelong a new one in the GF (its been 47 years since Geelong has beaten the Hawks in a Final so no surprises there).

I hope this helps.

Ha ha ha! What a ridiculous question regarding a player that has played 144 matches in the past six seasons.

It's a hypothetical so it cant be regarded as ridiculous....anything can happen!

They would be up sh*t creek without a paddle if it did occur!

My point is if Jolly went down Collingwood havnt got a ruckmen.
He doesn't have any injury history, and all clubs would have difficulty replacing one of their most important players. Of course Collingwood hasn't got a ruckman good enough to replace Jolly, but few clubs have a ruckman as good as him. I think Cameron Wood will be a good ruckman, and I'm sure he is learning well from Jolly, so I think that he will be fine if Jolly misses a few matches here and there, although he does seem very durable.

Hes also played almost all of his career playing in a dual rucking role of 50-50. This year hes had to play far more game time and this may effect his durability. Also because he doesnt have any injury doesnt mean much Riewoldt hadnt done a hamstring before this year.

He was great this year when he was rucking alone as much as he was, and when did it effect his durability? He was terrific last weekend which was his 26th match of the season. All teams are in the same situation with one of their most irreplaceable players anyway. It's not just Collingwood, so therefore it's a ridiculous hypothetical example. It seems to me as if you're hoping for a serious injury to an important Collingwood player.

Sorry, 2008 my bad. You guys have done NOTHING since but keep being talked about as though you're in some dynasty, it's perplexing because you're utterly crap.!

yeah, you're right... anything could happen

How's this for a hypothetical... All of St Kilda's players have a massive G@ng B@ng together while on holidays and decide they want to give up AFL to pursue thier now found love for one another... anything can happen right?... now St Kilda would be at the bottom of a sh*t creek where they belong.

Even if Collingwood did come down with injuries (touch wood), we have arguably the most depth in the league, so couldn't see it impacting as bad on us as say.... St Kilda :p

Not at all unlike a lot of supporters Id like to think we could beat the best a there best. My question was is there now back up if Jolly were to go down long term? We all saw the importance of him Grand Final day. When he was beaten in the first one StKilda won the mid field in the second Jolly won and the Collingwood mid field benefited.

Hasnt your so called great depth all retired??

i would like to say hawthorn. but i doln't know who to be honest. they're going to hard to beat again next year. as long as they don't hit the dreaded massive injury toll. they will challenge for the flag

I don't think that Melbourne at their best could beat Collingwood at their best. If that was the case, then Melbourne would be premiership favourites.
My question was is there now back up if Jolly were to go down long term? We all saw the importance of him Grand Final day.
Darren Jolly has been fantastic all season of course and one of the main reasons Collingwood took an extra two steps this year. He was only solid in the Grand Final without starring though, and Koschitzke did fairly well in the second half when St.Kilda got back into the match. He was fantastic in the Grand Final replay of course, but so were many of his mates.

Collingwood still would have won the premiership with Wood in the ruck though. He may not have won the 32 hit outs and contributed to 2 goals as Jolly did, but he should have been able to win 20 hit outs and help the Magpies win, even if it wasn't by as much as it was.
When he was beaten in the first one StKilda won the mid field in the second Jolly won and the Collingwood mid field benefited.
There was more to it than just that. Alan Didak was hit hard in the head in the second quarter of the Grand Final which effected the rest of his match. Dane Swan just couldn't get going and it seemed as though he had built it up too much after not winning the Brownlow medal.

Luke Ball definitely had built the Grand Final up too much and mainly because it was against St.Kilda, and there was more of a query with his hamstring at the time. Scott Pendlebury had lost 6kg prior to that match from a virus, and was up until 3 AM on Grand Final day crook. Sharrod Wellingham played nervously.

Seems the mighty pies have timed their run to absolute centimeter perfect perfection.

Dogs, Cats and Saints will all slide a little.

Carlton are average with no key forward or dominate backs.

Bombers are bottom 4?

Ds are too young to challenge and lack size strength and the fitness base?

North don't have enough money to keep washing clothes and pay the bills during September?

Could it be Freo with the circus freak, but can they win it on the MCG?

Sydney has not beaten the pies since Carlton got done cheating?

Gold Coast? Too young, no set game plan unfamiliar list.

Brisbane is run by a lunatic who is suffering some form of psychosis.

West Coast, yeh naa.

Adelaide just cleaned out 60,000 years of experience and have the shitiest looking jumper in the AFL.

Port Power have the Chad? is the Chad enough?

Who on earth has the talent to compete with the pies when they're on song?

who taught you how to use the english language?

Really interesting thread in hindsight. The Eagles top 4 with Carlton right there, Dogs and Saints did slide but the Cats just know how to challenge time and time again.

Fremantle are always a huge smokey but injuries have been extremely cruel to them.

Come back after you've analysed all Collingwood's hangovers.

Using broad strokes I'd suggest the main drivers in this one were the off field shenanigans (distractions) and a lack of depth.

The other one I've seen was a genuine hangover hangover.
