Who's gonna finish 8th?

Saints should be in the 8, umpires robbed them every time they lost.

Yeah i mentioned Freo and GC in another post. :p I never seen the WCE game, but i think Geelong had you lot at arms length all day.

Scores were level around 10 minutes into the last 1/4 in that Geelong game. We've had our chances this year. Just hope they've taken something and learnt for next year

Screw Melbourne. What are the chances of them completely lying down for Fremantle to give them a finals birth at the expense of us?

First they beat us and now this. If only we didn't lose that day. Could cost us a finals berth

If that win causes Essendon to miss finals I will cherish that game for a very very long time, then again I'd rather just beat freo. But that won't happen.

Freo would probably be in the best position. Home game vs Tigers plus Melbourne, they will likely lose to us in between those.

Richmond is the wildcard, if the planets align they could sneak in but more importantly, they play Fremantle and Essendon in the next two games, if they win both of those then they will throw the cat amongst the pigeons in terms of who is within striking distance.

I think we needed 11 games to have perfect results with absolutely no margin for error. So far it's 4 from 4. Need Essendon and ourselves to win today.

Next week: You guys over Freo and us over Essendon

Last round: Pies over Ess, Us over Port and Carl over St.K.

Pretty much the only ones I'm worried about are our own. Especially the Port one when we have to win to make it (Epic choke and lulz to be had.)

Before that loss, Melbourne were my second favourite team. Now, they run the risk of being one of my hated teams. Make no mistake, looking forward to our game next year. Hope it is round one and a complete annihilation. Revenge for destroying our season

I'm sure they are shaking in their boots at the prospect of that!

I reckon there'd be a good chance we could continue our streak to four years.

As mentioned above, Tiges are in an interesting position with two important "eight point games" coming up. Beat Freo away this weekend ( a huge ask) and they could smash it right open.

In fact according to my ladder predictor this single game could make the difference between them finishing 12th and 8th, due to their very good percentage compared to their rivals.

That said, Fremantle is most likely imo, but StKilda Essendon and Carlton are all in the running along with the Tiges. The fight to be eliminated by Geelong is hotting up.

North look to be safe, they can lose two of their next three and still make finals.

The North game will be a massive test, it's going to come down to the midfield as both Petrie and Pav could be entirely shut out. McPharlin kept Petrie goalless last time Etihad. And Pav will get double tagged, I guess..

North fans would take a Petrie/Pav nil-all draw in a heartbeat. At least one or two of our triple towers will hit the scoreboard and Freo are too one-dimensional in their forwardline.

Richmond can't make it. They need to win all three games plus have five results go their way. Granted, those five results are expected but it's still too much needed to go right in a very unpredictable year.

Besides, they only win when the pressure is off. If they need a win round 23 to make it, I'd back their opposition by 39+ (or a kick after the siren).

This is my predicted top 8:
Adelaide
Collingwood
Hawks
Swans
Eagles
Geelong
North
Fremantle

Week 1:
QF's:
Adelaide vs Sydney at AAMI: Sydney by 17
Collingwood vs Hawthorn at MCG: Hawthorn by 15

Eliminations:
Eagles vs Freo at Subi: Freo by 7
Geelong vs North: Geelong by 12

Week 2:
Semis:
Adelaide vs Fremantle at AAMI: Adelaide by 19
Collingwood vs Geelong at MCG: Collingwood by 6

Week 3:
Prelims:
Sydney vs Collingwood at ANZ: Sydney by 5
Hawthorn vs Adelaide: Hawthorn by 33

Week 4:
Hawthorn vs Sydney at MCG: Hopefully the Hawks.

Oh god, cant believe im saying this, but a 5 goal win over Port will feel like a loss. We probably need to negate that loss in percentage to Freo to feel safe in regards to percentage. Port are hammered with injuries and struggling, but it's Hocking's first game as coach at home, and Port are traditionally our bogey side, so I wont take anything for granted.

Freo are definitly in the boxseat. Their ceiling at the moment isnt quite as high as some other teams imo, but they are healthy and just getting the job done week after week. Carlton still worry me, I can sense a bradbury run for 8th from them.
I still would like to see St Kilda make it. All season, I have had the feeling that the saints can give anyone a shake on their day. They could possibly (very unlikely) win a flag from 8th, where I cant see the other sides like Freo, Carlton, current Essendon doing it. So on that note, I think St Kilda are deserving, but that home loss to Freo (not to mention the Port loss) will come back to bite them im afraid.

In 1996;
Sydney finished top
West Coast, North, Geelong, Essendon, Carlton and Hawthorn all made finals
St Kilda & Richmond just missed the 8
Melbourne & Bulldogs in bottom 4.

Similar type of season. I remember thinking 2009 was a little like 1997 as well.

That's how I see the ladder panning out.

If we can get over Geelong then we are an even money chance of rolling the Crows.
