Society/Culture Why are young males now more right wing then older males?

Who is telling you all of this? Like really... who?

And I don't mean when you go online and look for stuff designed to make you angry. I mean who... in real life?

Surely if everything you see in here on the internet and through media is telling you that's the world you live in... but then you walk out your front door and don't see any of it... that's reason to question why you're being spun a story of a world that doesn't really exist?

Thank god for this post.

What community in Aus is doing this to our men? Who is saying this in jobs and schools? Oh that's right, there's bugger all sense of community in the first place.

My 19 year old brother (who has barely left his room in 6 years) refuses to step into a gym because he subscribes to JoeySwoll, and reckons the second he walks in he's going to get berated and bullied by some a$$hole Insta-Queen or Chad. Yet 99% of modern gyms are the most welcoming places you'll ever go to.

I can understand that many young men have struggled at school, at home, have traumas, are neglected and left out - but the idea that our modern, physical society is demanding they turn into namby pamby softy feminists is nauseating.

Is this an implication that all conservative men have absolutely zero standards and will take whatever woman they can get?
More, that certain ideas around traditional femininity - that most conservatives hold - don't marry well (pun intended) with modern women or - frankly - capitalism.

Unless you are an extremely high earner, a one income household and your partner staying home to be a stay at home mum simply isn't viable.
This idea that people should not or do not engage with people not on their same wing of politics is extremely uncommon.
I'm sorry, but I don't recall saying that. Do you think you could quote the specific part of my post that says this?
Those stubborn enough to actually go through with it and only surround themselves with those that echo the same beliefs are not worth the time anyway.
Isn't this dismissal the other side of the coin to what you're accusing me of above?

Either people should not insulate themselves from other viewpoints, or all people are worth your time. Pick a lane.

Social media and the media trick people in to thinking this stuff is way more prevalent than it really is in actual day-to-day life.

You could try talking to your brother more. If he's listening to people on line ahead of you, there must be a reason. This isnt criticism, just a suggestion.

Exact same thing but in reverse

Where is the toxic masculinity? Where are the nazis?

That's reason to question why you're being spun a story of a world that doesn't really exist?

It used to be said winners write history. Nowadays it seems all the writings are badmouthing the winners. The winners don't pay enough tax, the winners are colonizers, the winners are self centered. I put it to the forum there is no difference between the winners and losers (I don't mean this so literal so please don't take offence) and that they are both motivated by self-interest.

Here we have the monopoly study showing that it doesn't matter who you are you get carried away by success and don't acknowledge advantages. So yes its great to point at the nepo babies, private school kids or Aussies on stolen land but reality is the human mindset is still wired the same and the people pointing fingers screaming from a higher moral ground would be no different if roles reversed.

Then we have the case of stolen lands the world over. Both sides have always been prepared to fight. The losers have fought tooth and nail just didn't have the means for whatever reason to win. But the same desire to fight for land existed showing the human mindset is no different.

Thirdly I want to speak about something we are witnessing in America especially but I believe we have also seen it here in the past (and predicted to in the future). Migrants who took advantage of the goodwill to come here now voting against more migrants coming. Trump has openly been against migrants yet a large proportion of Hispanics voted for him. We've seen this here in Australia where migrants who are safely now here turn their back on new migration. Really showing the human mindset is just self-interest.

At lease those on the right don't hide it. Its the nasty left who try and hide it. They hide behind social justice when really the things they want would get them a better lifestyle eg less work & more free things. Its all self interest at the end of the day but because the winners are winning they are the ones labelled badly.

Plenty of people won't listen to someone close to them, but will listen to people online. It's a real problem.

Its a good point. I'm just suggesting trying to get someone to talk about their lives. I think that's an advantage that the joe rogans and the andrew tates dont have. People usually feel good about talking about their lives if they know that you're not going to laugh or lecture them.

As the parent of 2 teenage male Trump supporters, I can add a few comments:

  • They like him because they think he's funny
  • He personally appears on all the platforms they like UFC etc
  • They believe the surface level arguments from his camp (immigration, Harris has done nothing for the last 4 years)
  • They have no deep understanding of left vs right politics

If the republican candidate was your typical old suit (e.g. Mitt Romney), they would have no interest in the US election at all.

Yes, if I'm not reading Andrew Bolt or watching Peta Credlin I am listening to Alan Jones.

Why do conservatives ignore grooming, when the perpetrator is one of their own?

So the thing you don't like about him is the thing that stems from the only bone in his body that isn't aligned with right wing idealogy.

It seems you are aware of his history, but still choose to elevate him as a role model?

You also called a known sex trafficker a legend.

What a nice piece of work you are.
