Why the Bullies will win on Friday Night?

Good OP. The point I take interest in is the wider spaces of the MCG, and if we can finally get our running game going, hopefully the Swans will be chasing tails.

All great points by our adelaide friend,

The doggies have to much run n carry for the swans, let alone skill and pace....expecting our mids to belt them..we'll come out firing no doubt after last week

Go dogs!!!

yeah i think we should win then go on and play geelong i think we could beat them if we put pressure on the player that has the ball and man up on the opponents if i was Rodney Eade i would watch tapes of them and see how then know players are there to support the ball carrier cause geelong always have some one out wide to receive the ball

Friday night is a formality, Geelong should present a tougher challange but then it's the grand final we should have had in 1997, Saints v 'Dogs.

And do what to counter-act there game style?

I've been to both games against the Swans this year and they have had injuries / suspensions to key players both times so they look stronger on paper this week.

Having said that the frees in the 2 games in NSW have been 41 / 25 and it felt even worse than that so that may even up a bit.

Not a lot in it but we should get up.

The way i see this game, as a sydney supporter is as follows:

The Dogs have played better this year
The Dogs at their best can account for the swans at their best
The dogs second quarter when they played the swans both times were telling.
The Dogs should win.

BUT...

Can any of you say that you're confident? The swans in september are generally a much tougher proposition then in the regular season.
Personally, i think there's a good chance the swans can get up.

Anyways, im looking forward to a good game on friday night no matter what happens.

We have played at the G before.
We have played Swans before.
We have played on a Friday night before.
You still have to do the same things to win as any other week.
Bullshit to say it is different (except for maybe the first two minutes when it is red hot).

Stick to basics.....it is just footy.

if september is just a word, then its definition is pressure. if you lose theres no next week. some people thrive on it, some people cant handle it.

Thats what I am saying. If you build it up too much in your head it becomes something it isn't. It is just footy, stick to basics.

Nicely worded comment though.

I had a good look at this game and have tried to analyze from all angles. The Bullies do appear to be a much better team than Sydney.

Reasons for:

1) Two minor round victories over the Swans, importantly the most recent a few weeks ago.

2) The Swans have struggled this season away from home to win.

3)the game will be played at a frenetic pace, if as predicted its a dry game I expect the doggies to run all over the swans.

4) the wet game will have a severe impact on the swans as they only have a 6 day recovery period. I noticed over the years there ability to win games after 6 day break is about 50:50. Note also the Bullies poor form in Friday night against the Hawks was more due to the hard slog against the Crows than anything else. That game against the Crows took a lot out of the team.

5) a home game, I expect to see a strong 50,000+ crowd for this one.

6) When you beat the Swans in Sydney earlier this year O'Louglin playyed and kicked importantly three goals, so even that margin is flattering when you consider he wont be there on Friday night.

7) Sydney have only beaten the Saints and Roos in the top 8 hardly scintillating, esp when you consider the timing of those victories. Saints out of form totally and with injuries and the Roos in a wet windy day in Sydney. If the game was played on flat track the Roos would have won IMO.

8) Form at the G in 08, Bullies have won 2 lost 1 (but lost to probably the Grand finalist) and Sydney lost to the Hawks by 5 goals as well. I think the bigger oval will have an impact on the Swans, hasnt Eade been gearing his team up for extra sessions for the finals, this is the time to reap those benefits of hard running.

9) Over the years most teams do bounce back well after losing in the first week, in most recent history teams that lose in W1 go on to win in W2.

10) My gut tells me this will happen, lol.

Looking forward to comments from Doggies supporters on this. Im just offering an objective outsiders thoughts on this.

Oh and another reason its not a prelim and your not playing the Crows !

Just about went according as to the way I predicted. ! :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Where are all the arrogant Sydney supporters that were insulting me about my accurate predictions !

Dont be fooled by Eade saying past performance is irrelevant, he will be spending this week reviewing these past two games.

When you support a team all objectivity goes out the door!

If you stop O'Keefe and Goodes your 75% home.

If it is dry game in Melbourne on Friday night, its game over for the Swans.

The Bullies will run run and then run some more. The concern may be if it is wet then it would really even things up a lot.

Interesting that both the doggies and crows were run over in the second half of those games in Week 1 after their R22 game.

woof woof, sorry im excited as i placed the biggest bet of my life on the bullies this week.
