I believe as posted before on BF that 2011 Geelong was the oldest most experienced premiership winner since WW2 @ average 27y3m and 145games

Here's the stats from last year's GF:

RichmondAttributeGeelong
185.5cmHeight188.6cm
86.2kgWeight89.3kg
27yr 1mthAge28yr 4mth
133.0Games162.9

Neither side is any younger so for either to win this year a new record will need to be set.

well thats assuming the literal exact sides play, which has (somehow) never ever happened.

For us, i can easily see prestia and astbury missing through injury, and houli's form isnt the most outstanding, and rioli is in and out of the team. These guys have been replaced with the likes of RCD, chol, CCJ and aarts, who vary from 3-5+ years younger. Not to mention that mansell was in the team in his own right, not as injury replacement. averages are easy to skew and change with few actual changes.

that said, i dont think we are a chance this year anyway.

Keep the injuries under control, finish top 6 and we are every chance.
However, at the moment the Dees are looking good and deserve to be favourites.
Will finish top 4, and have the burning desire, ability and belief to win it.

Your finals experience vastly outnumbers Melbourne's though, the big boys come out to play in September, will be an interesting finals season.

Hopefully COVID the campaigner doesn't interrupt massive crowds at the MCG.

Cats have more finals experience than anyone I think. Not sure it means that much. You just need to be able to play football better and particularly in pressurised situations.

Dimma’s adjusted our game style, or I should say he’s added a new mode similar to the Cats. Over the last few weeks we’ve been working on a slow kick to mark build up to counter opposition momentum, this is a huge development this season, he’s realized to beat the Cats, Brisbane and Melbourne you have to maintain possession to halt momentum. Hopefully we fine tune this to work along side our defensive pressure blitz over the run home.

Good observation, we've played a more kick mark game, but more importantly we are getting it in the corridor and hitting lead ups more often I50

If we add that aspect to our running handball game, adds another dimension to our game which makes us harder to defend.

If anyone has watched our games we played a good second half vs the bulldogs and a great 8 minutes vs Essendon the rest we have been well off other than belting St Kilda early.

Whether it’s the game plan not adjusting to the new rules, injuries adding up and not the depth as previous years to cover them. Perfect storm either way have played poorly all year and don’t deserve to play finals.

Might be time to change the coach, current one is a bit…err, um, distracted.

They have a huge amount of injuries so expect them to bounce back in 22.

They’re gone. The Eagles game last month was the beginning of the end

Kicking the first 3 goals against Geelong in the GF rematch, and then going on to lose by 10+ goals, was the beginning of the end.

Either way, the end is here.
