No wonder we refused to kick the ball into our forward line

JAY SCHULZ took 4 marks for the day

the only Players who managed to take less were

Ben Cousins - 3 in limited game time

Kel Moore - who was busy trying to punch while not getting his assed handed to him by big Jono Brown

Nathan Foley - 4foot 3 and a half

Troy Simmonds - Who i thought was disgraceful on the day despite his junktime goals a tall forward who took 2 grabs ahahhah terrible. Certaintly at the cross roads.

by the way bradshaw and brown had 21 between them
while jack and jay had 9....

we sure do miss richos 21000 marks per game in our forward line
surely Morton has to play this week and id even be interested to see if Hughes is nearlly fit

Pretty mucht he reason why we kick it sideways and backwards when we are on the wing or half back and sometimes even half forward.

You hear people in the crowd yelling just kick it long when we are handballing and chipping sideways but once someone does kick it long the Lions ruckman comes back to a 1-1 contest and takes the mark and everyone has a winge about what a shit kick it was.
Reality is out pretend key forwards are shit.

how many times was the ball kicked to him in a marking position? ...... maybe 4 times !!!

You can't mark it if it isn't kicked to you. Our problem is our gameplan and the fact that we were outcoached - we could not beat the 18 man press the Lions used.

I bag Schulz as much as anyone - but i will defend his marking yesterday because as i said ya can't mark it if its not kicked to you.

Yeah thought Troy Simmonds was extremely bad , can not believe he was named in the best players. Surely he is finished.
As for Schulz this was his chance and he failed , simple as that.

Too many of the forwards have no idea about leading and for that matter making space for other players.

Was pleading with Simmonds to lead and create space but either he does not know what he is doing , he is not fit or both. Got to say he did not deserve to have 4 goals next to his name.

I sat 4 rows from the front on the 50m arc at the Punt Rd end on Saturday.

I have to say, the RFC forward line needs to have a very long hard look at it's self.

Jay Schulz - Maybe he was crucified by the coach telling him to play up the ground, but he was non-existent all day.

Jack Riewoldt - Selfish, not prepared to work hard enough, when he got the ball he did noting but waste it. One play that has stuck in my head was in the 4th term, he had the ball outside 50, he put up what can best be described as a very below average kick to a 2 on 1 in the forward pocket, the ball was turned over, it went back to his man who he had left un-checked and once his man had kicked on and spotted up a team mate, big JR turned to his team mate that he'd 'kicked' it to and sprayed him for not taking the mark!! I thought it a bit rich coming from a player who stood still all day and gave his team zero presence inside forward 50. I think this episode encaptulated his day perfectly.

Robin Nahas was the only bloke that actually had a crack all day and he's 3 foot nothing, built like a string bean.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't let what I saw on Saturday go without bringing attention to it.

Agree Peejay. When the Lions made a couple of adjustments we didn't seem to have a clue how to cope. I was amazed how open their forward line was - I'm all for "run and gun" but when the opposition has forwards of the quality (and brute strength) of Brown and Bradshaw, surely you've got to clog it a bit.
And yeah, Schulz just happened to be the bunny who had to play the high forward role yesterday. I can't imagine too many others taking 10 marks with that ball movement and delivery. Bet he would look a different player in the Geelong forward line. Cameron Mooney is handy but he'd struggle in our forward line.
