Will we make finals?

bevo thinks he's bart cummings, gets them to peak at the right time

and you know what, this might sound outlandish, but & yes it's like a big but (& i can not lie ), if we beat geelong this week, what's to stop us going all the way

:ducks for cover:
All things being equal (which they rarely are) that's the right approach imo.

Have the team drilled, settled and set them to peak at 3pm on the last Saturday in September every year.

If you're accurately assessing that you're in the window in terms of list balance, talent, age profile etc you either accept the risk of not making it or you don't. Personally, I'd like us to always take it on in the window scenario.

I think it's plausible to think that if we beat Geelong or go down in a close one we'll continue to build and could very well be peaking at September's end....if we make it. It's got that feel to it. It hasn't 100% clicked at any stage or in any game this year but there's an inevitability about it.

Richmond are our biggest threat to making finals. Given Brisbane's abysmal record at the MCG, if the tigers win this weekend, they have 1 foot in the finals as they arguably win their last 3. The only way we make finals is by winning the next 4...

Richmond 38 points
Round 20 - Brisbane - WIN
Round 21 - Port - WIN
Round 22 - Hawthorn - WIN
Round 23 - Essendon - WIN
38 points + 16 points = 54 points

Bulldogs 40 points

Round 20 - Geelong - Loss
Round 21 - Fremantle - WIN
Round 22 - GWS - WIN
Round 23 - Hawks - WIN
40 point + 12 = 52 points

Got to win at a minimum 2 of the last 4, 3 should see the Dogs secure it. The main factor is that they cant afford to cop a belting during any loss as % is more a factor now. And we need Richmond to drop a game or 2 along the way

No way, there are so many more twists and turns left - I think 13 wins is the threshold and will be very surprised if it isn't.

Carlton may also drop their bundle entirely and lose their last 3 (Brisbane Gabba, Melbourne, Collingwood).

Given Richmond have a draw, if they are our threat then percentage is not an issue.

IF we win 3 games and build a bit of percentage, it’s Carlton who we will likely replace in the 8. They can lose their last 3 games and hand us 8th.
This is regardless of how the Tigers go. It’s our best shot at getting finals, which I am not sure we are going to do anything there but still. Have to be in it to win it.

Pretty sure since the inception of the final 8 a team with 13 wins has never missed playing finals. So it we win 3 of the last 4 history says we will make the 8.

That's right so I think both the Tigers and us get in and Carlton miss. Even more so it Adelaide beat them this week. Hopefully Tex and Fog have a great game.

IMO Blues will somehow find it to win the amount of games required to stay in the 8

Tiggers will make it

I know it's the Bulldog way to be pessimistic but jeez there's some overeating of Richmond in here.

Their draw with Freo in Melbourne last start was a horrible game, with Freo franking that form last night.

Tigers previous 2 games were losses to Lolnorf and Suns.

Now people are locking them in to win 4 games in a row against Brisbane, Port (in Adelaide), Hawthorn and Essendon?

On current form I'd say they're more likely to lose all 4.

All 2016 finals are special and entrenched in our memories because the crescendo was reached in GF

I always think of the 2016 finals because of the GF win.

Not sure how I would see them without the gf

The 2016 finals series is like Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon. The individual songs are great but the record as a whole is truly incredible.

perfect hugh grant GIF

Apart from tomorrow which is Lions at the MCG they play teams who have nothing to play for.

That’s probably enough to get you wins at this stage.
So what? Port weren't making it whether they won today or not.

What did Norf have to play for? Not much really.. essendope may beat them too and they have nothing going on

Richmond have won 2 of the last 7 or something. They're not going 4-0 Lol

North played with the new coach and all that comes with it ?

Port were some sniff unlikely but a sniff of a chance but today finished that off

Tiggers will bury Essendope if they are playing for a spot in the finals and essendope are rubbish

We need to keep winning and keep it solely in our hands
