Should/when they beat a clear finals contender in Essendon at docklands on the weekend, thereby stretching their undefeated run to 7 wins in a row - the spotlight will be on them and rightly so.

They are the form interstate side after Victorian dominated premierships in the last 5 years and playing great football with clearly great depth.

I have to admit I didn't see them coming on so fast and solidifying a top 2 side after only winning the spoon 18 months ago, but players like Naitanui, Shuey, Selwood, Darling, Gaff are turning into genuine superstars they are on track to finish top TWO or outright 1st and if they do watch out.

Surely they have to be considered legitimate flag certainties??

I started a thread like this about players diving forward in tackles to win push in the back free kicks paraphrasing one of the 'West Coast duck their heads' troll threads and it was deleted quick smart. I wonder how long this will last...

And no, we probably won't win the flag - but I'll be rapt if we do.

While I appreciate your praise and optimism towards our team. I have to ask the mods to please lock this thread. There are more than enough eagles threads on the main board and it's getting silly and giving us a bad name.

Many thanks.

How is this giving you a bad name Omar? This is no different to an opposition supporter asking if Essendon will win the flag.

I presented my reasoning for why, especially with a 7-0 record start to the season.

It's no secret that Victorian sides have dominated the last 5 years.

The last interstate side to win a flag was West Coast with an in-form Sydney...

Will West Coast be THE interstate team to spark an interstate resurgence with an in-form Sydney? It seems like poetic justice if you think about it.

This is my prophecy. What is everyone else's?

I think they will, on current form even with their injuries, I can see them go through the season without a loss, they are going to smash us on saturday. :(

You mention going a whole season without a loss. No modern side has ever done that yet.

You'd think being able to cover their injuries well could be a testament to West Coast's chance at performing all the way. Depth could be THE secret and WCE have demonstrated this like no other, with a lossless start to the year to prove it.

How is this not scaring anyone?

It's reaching critical mass now and we will be found wanting away from home against stronger sides.

BUT i refuse to whinge about it like a offended Dockers supporter. I see it as an opportunity to blood more young talent.

I think they may never lose a game again, ever.

A start considering a side a flag certainty when say are close to 10 goals up with less then 10 minutes to go in the final quarter of the grand final. About anything can happen until then.

Surely as a Fremantle supporter eager to win it's first flag, you would be a little worried by the resurgence of WCE from spoon, to top 4, to top 2?

If you were smart, you would probably smell not just one flag, but 2 or more. How could this bode well for your WA team in the next few years, especially with Pav having 4 years at best left? Are you not in the least bit worried, or could this be the resurgence that interstate teams have been dying for?

Yet a thread started on here by one of your own, asking if the Bombers will win the flag is still here, didn't see you complaining about that.

This x 1000.

It's a very long season. The team could keep its structure and gameplan despite numerous changes, and hold out until the injured and suspended players come back fresh for finals; or they might buckle and lose enough games to miss their shot at a top-two spot, which would cost them a decent shot at the flag this year.

Let's wait and see.

I am actually worried about a lot of other teams. But I really have even no idea who will get close to a flag this year. Freo might be a contender over the next 2,5 year, but a lot has to go right since there are about 10 more teams who are at the same mark or even closer. Actually I was mainly saying it because of the boltness of the original question: Will WC win the flag? Only right answer is: No one knows. Surely without some injuries to key personal they should/would be favourites now, but no more can be said...
