I have a feeling that even thought both of these sides aren't the highest quality teams we will still see i high quality high scoring game. My blues should get over the line by 5 or 6 goals:thumbsu::thumbsu:. The only way i can see the dons getting up is if Lloyd and Lucas fire up front and they can subdue our midfield and good old Fev. If Fev and our midfield fire it could blow out but Essendon aren't without a shot at this one if everything goes right for them.

BLUES by 34

Lloyd 5 Fev 6
Lucas 4 Judd 3 <-----major Goal kickers
Lovett 2 Betts 2

How many Essendon players would get a game in our side?

I would say Ryder, McVeigh and possibly a fit Lucas.

That is it.

No goggles or patches here. over the last 9 weeks, our game style has been configured and we have conceded 92 points on average.

Essendon has the second heaviest scores 'against' them week in week out. That is fact!

Have a look at the for and against in the percentage before commenting on that.

Fact. Essendon Scores for: Average, 89 Against, 121.83

Carlton is scores for, 96.83, against, 101.91....

Massive differences. This has come down considerably in the last 9 weeks.

Yep - Dustin Fletcher would really battle to get into your first class backline:eek:.... THis comment is so biased it is almost impossible to take seriously. Carlton have played half a season of football in 5 years.... You are in no position to be making these self righteous and baseless calls..

What is also a fact is that you haven't played Hawthorn, Sydney or the Dogs.

Your ladder position and stats flatter you greatly.

Not being over the top, just being realistic.

I have been a suffering member over the painful years too. We have copped it from everyone. I know we still have a long way to go, but we have kids that have now played 40+ games. That is the big difference. You can not keep getting draft pick after draft pick and not suddenly start to improve. It is the belief, the mindset and the fitness that is now starting to win games.

As a club, I respect Essendon, but the side itself will go backwards before it does start to go forwards. Lucas, Fletch, Lloyd, McPhee are not the same players because they are not only older, but they do not have the quality around them anymore.

Gumbleton is the unfortunate one. But he is a season or so behind in his development. Laycock? Why is Jason Johnson still on the list if he can not get a game? He is a hard nut, like Solomon and Mark Johnson that could help the side. With the latter two in Perth, I find that it is astounding that he can not get a game.

A couple of years in the lower reaches and some hard and tough calls to make. Time to cash in on a few and get some draft picks. That is the only way back!

That actually just got me thinking.

Who is Carlton's CHF???

Whoever he is he must be better than Lucas...

Cloke, Fish, Betts, Russell rotate through there. Lucas is a gun, but to old now. Our oldest player is Stevo at 28. Fev and Scotto are 27. Then to Juddy and a host of others at 23-24.

Youth is the key.

Carlton have the better cattle on the paddock, if we turn up ready to play we will win, any overconfidence or just not ready mentally and the Dons will get the win.

Then wouldn't this mean your cattle is mentally week and should be put down? Seems to me like you're already looking for an excuse when you lose, if that's all you can come up with when you lose then look out for a barrage of abuse! ;)

How is that? Youth is the key to the future however not the immediate future, Cloke, Fisher, Betts and Russell... you're kidding me aren't you? This is Cloke's best season, no doubt, he's shed some kgs and he's obviously worked on stamina but you can't use a bandaid to cover up a broken leg.

So Lucas, despite 60+ goals last year, wouldn't get a game for Carlton because he's older than Nick Stevens:confused:. Flawless logic.

Best team from the two sides, fully fit. Essendon players in bold:
Waite Fletcher Slattery
Carrazzo Ryder Scotland
Lovett Murphy Dempsey
Davey Lucas McVeigh
Lloyd
Fevola Betts
Hille Judd Stevens

Laycock Gibbs Kreuzer Stanton

Essendon: 12
Carlton: 10

Ryder, McVeigh and possibly Lucas? Pfff.

Essendon 18.7.115
Carlton 16.12.108

Goals:
Essendon - Lucas (4), Neagle (3), Lloyd, McPhee, Jetta (2), Myers, Hille, Laycock, Monfries, Reimers
Carlton - Fevola, Fisher, Judd (3), Betts (2), Kreuzer, Stevens, Simpson, Murphy, Gibbs

Best:
Essendon - McVeigh, Lucas, Fletcher, Ryder, Lonergan
Carlton - Judd, Murphy, Simpson, Gibbs, Kreuzer

Not too far off. :)

I forgot that we didn't have Lucas last time we played them :D
I was thinking Carlton by 26
now I think Essendon by 10 because we can add on Lucas' 7 goals.

Carlton $1.30
Essendon $3.30

They forget that these games are always close.
Carlton has 1 player with the ability to kick large sums of goals. We have MORE!
Reimers, Lonergan and Lovett to run a Muck!!
Putting $300 on Essendon today. I won't be upset if I lose it if they play well.
did you follow through with that?

if so congrat.s
