Boyd not so much, but given their form to date it was hard to see who Jaksch and/or JOR was going to push out of the seniors - hence why they departed.
I think the worrying thing for GWS is that they've had 3 promising young players wanting to leave after a relatively short time at the Club. When one of them was a number 1 draft pick from the previous year that should be a real concern. If they don't improve markedly next season how many more will want to leave?

I'm not that unhappy with our trade period. I don't think our squad is as bad as some people are making out. We had no players requesting to leave, which is a good sign of the team spirit. Team stability can be a good thing
Tend to agree with that prognostication although West Coast like most other sides will always have room for improvement list wise. On a local basis I believe that they are capable of improving more than Freo next season and won't be surprised to see them finish above them on the ladder.

Winners
1. Port - average picks for someone who will improve an already strong team
2. Brisbane - Picked up a big name and a talented youngster. Massive for the fans. Nice to get a win over the 'pies.
3. Hawthorn - Frawley for free. JOR cheap.
4. GWS - Picking up Griffen and Patfull will make a huge difference and have 3 top picks. If they can find some goal kickers to support Cameron they could leapfrog the Suns this year.
5. Melbourne - Clark for Lumumba was an awful trade, couldn't attract anyone despite heaps of salary cap room but was a huge winner getting pick 3 for a solid defender (Frawley)
6. Gold Coast - Added Malceski to their best 22 for free. Pick up another good midfielder prospect practically for free.
7. St Kilda - Got quite a good pick for a dud (Stanley)
8. Carlton - got a solid KPP prospect for a pick downgrade. Replaced Waite with a younger verson of Waite (Jones).

Broke even:
Richmond, West Coast and Fremantle.
Adelaide - added some depth.
Geelong - picked up Mitch Clark but lost Christensen. Also missed out on Frawley.
Collingwood - Lost a gun mid but replaced him with a solid midfielder and a very good draft pick. Lost a flaky outside mid (Harry O) and gained another flaky outside mid (Varcoe)
Sydney - lost a bit of depth

Losers:
Bulldogs - Early call but Boyd will have to be really good to make up for losing Griffin, pick 6 and 10% of their salary cap a year for five years.
North - Lost Greenwood and picked up a couple of seagulls.
Essendon: Lost Ryder for less than what he's worth. Cooney won't add much. Giles trade was a win.

Winner NO ONE as we need to see the draft and who gets what...

Brisbane
Beams and Christeson are both a risk....both not loyal and have issues off the ground

Pick 5 Wright (could be anything)
pick 21 Duggan (a player who could play 200(games)

Bulldogs
Won-Boyd could be anything but will take 3 years (3000 extra members)
Loss-Griffen gun for the next 2 years -Pick 6 Laverdue (pace and skill)

GWS
Won-Griffen gun for the next 2 years -Pick 6 Laverdue (pace and skill)
Loss -boyd with Patton looking like a disaster they had to keep him and couldnt

no you dont...beams is that more damaging then greenwood is.

Says the supporter of the team who forgot trade period was happening. Beams might be more damaging than Greenwood but is much, much less defensive then Greenwood. Greenwood in our team keeps means our midfield defensively will be much better which in turn means our backline will fin it easier to defend.

Turn it up mate. You can spin it however you like but the facts are beams is one of the very elite midfielders in the competition whilst greenwood is not.

You can talk about how good Beams is al the time but his a defensive liability, and one that we don't have anymore.

Are you for real? How do tackle numbers prove anything?

Beams gets allot of tackles around the contest but he doesn't run both ways. Beams is a "cheater".

Levi Greenwood's two way running is one of his strengths.

You said he doesn't have a defensive side.....tackling is having a defensive side.
Running both ways lol, You might as well throw Pendlebury in with Beams as mid that doesn't run both ways.
Just because Greenwood is used more as a negator doesn't make Beams any less of a two way runner.

Are you serious?

Pendles doesn't run both ways?

You don't anything about football.

As I said Beams tackles around the contest, but once the ball leaves the contest and his man runs forward Beams won't follow.

Just pointing out your ignorance, just because you're more potent in the attacking side of the game doesn't mean you don't run both ways. If that was the case Pendlubury would also be considered only a one way runner.
Like I said previously just because Greenwood is used more as a negator in a defensive aspect doesn't mean Beams is any less of a two way runner.

I heard a Richmond supporter ring SEN and say the club claimed prior to trade period they had a mil spare in cap space and were going to be big players. Not sure if this is true or not, if it is what the hell happened?
Probably the same thing that happened to the dees trading picks 2 & 3...lol..
Point is where were Sydney when they made those trades, fourth I think, ax I said worth it. It takes serious difference to make a side go from bottom to top, look at port, two years ago they were at their lowest point. Appoint a new prez and new coach, wow, that's what makes a difference. Think Richmond and hawthorn 2004, Richmond takes the easy route, wallace , Jason dunstal takes the hard road. Alister clarkson, the rest is all him. Same as port, get rid of primus and appoint ken, freo, get rid of Harvey and appoint Lyon. Get a good coach and you are fine, average coach tred water.
After the amateurishly poor 5 year plans the dees have had for the last 8 years, trading in experienced players is the only way we can get back on par with other clubs... Senior players are a huge asset in developing young players and the dees disregarded this, when they culled the list... Not being able to trade 2 or 3 or 2&3, is a set back for us... But not a big one...

Not really sure if we are winners or not giving pick 5 25 and Crisp was too much for Beams .
Christensen off field problems are a worry
and not looking at a key forward.
don't understand Geelong giving pick 21 for Stanley
You gave 2 picks and Patful+a packet of chips for one of the top 20 midfielders in the competition and a player worth a top 10 draft pick - probably Geelong's best young mid. Be happy.

Beams isn't a less of a two-way runner because his a more a attacking player. Beams is a less of a two running because he simply doesn't run both ways. Tagging and two way running are two different things. Greenwood can be used as a negator but even when he is simply just winning his own ball he still is more of a two runner than Beams.

Of the teams that were involved in trade week, the losers were the Bulldogs, Bombers and Cats imo.

Other than that most sides did ok. Not sure on Roos, Crows and Pies.

Winners definitely Hawks, Port and Suns. Lions did well but not sure of their team balance. Blues also good.

Not sure how Essendon are losers out of this trade period. Apart from losing Paddy for unders (picks 19 & 37 was the best we could get from Port direct) we have done very well for ourselves.

Adam Cooney as a plug and play midfielder for pittance with the Dogs paying some of his cheap as chips salary.

Jon Giles as a ready made replacement for Paddy Ryder also for pittance (pick 52)

Whilst the signing of James Gwilt as insurance for the ageless Dustin Fletcher, injury prone Tayte Pears and soon to be delisted Kyle Hardingham will soon show to become an astute signing amalgamating 3 players into 1.

Leaving ourselves with 2 picks inside the top 20 and upgrading Paddy Ambrose is a win in my books.

Did what we had to do. If we were pies or hawthorn, we would have got away with less dollars.

Dollars isn't too bad when you take into account our list profile and inflation over 7 years. Grif and coon were on good coin. Contract will be front loaded heavily in 2016
