Look at his stats for the games Carlton won, they're phenomenal. Can't be just a coincidence that when he plays well Carlton win?
Probably is how many times did you win this year?
And who was the opposition when you won, was it strong or weak?

He said himself he's open to play on past 2017. Why would anyone do that? Maybe they enjoy their footy, who knows? Stupid question reallyDo you think he left his long standing club to come to WA to play more than one season? Why would anyone do that? He came for coaching and he'll move into that ASAP.
Then how does that work, if we had given up two firsts we would have been losers considering we haven't failed once in 10 years with our first round pick
It works because Adelaide haven't won the flag for 18 years despite playing finals in 11 of those years. Good but not good enough and nothing changed.
Come on every football supporter apart from Carlton supporters know Gibbs is a good player but he is a bit vanilla. He isn't going to take hold of anything like danger, Fyfe , ablett , Selwood, Judd, hodge , Mitchell the list goes on. Gibbs is more of a handy player that gets easy possessions and uses it well but not a match winner or game changer. I know you like him but can't see him doing anymore and definetly not winning you a flag

You obviously don't watch a lot of Gibbs or looked at he's stats the past couple of years. Compare he's stats with your current mids and he would've easily have been your second best mid.
All the players I mentioned that hawks, cats, pies & dogs bought in aren't the star players of the team but they play a specific & integral role. It is these players that win you flags...At the Crows, Gibbs would've had an important role in your midfield. The time is now for the Crows and Reid blew it. I'd be livid if I was a Crows supporter.

Mate stats mean nothing as champion data shows Andrew McLeod was a low stat getter but he was a freak so many players get easy soft stats mean nothing Gibbs is vanilla he is useful in a link but doesn't do anything great give me Scott Thompson any day
How hard were we chasing him, he wanted to come to Adelaide, Roo said we have a limit and we stuck by the limit
So how hard were we chasing?
Stats was a minor part of my argument. My main argument is the tried and tested method of overpaying via trading for players on a team needs basis to compliment players drafted/developed to win a flag...which Reid & the Crows missed out on doing in regards to Gibbs.

I think the Pies have copped unfair flak.
Their plan was clearly to improve their run and kicking skills and that's why the brought in Wells and Hoskin-Elliott and moved on Brown. Frost and Williams who all can't kick. Dunn is an improvement because he can kick, he couldn't play MFC's full zone defence but if the Pies go more on-on-one he'll be a useful pick-up. Mayne offers foreward pressure which is clearly valued. The players they let go were of little consequence and they used FA well. Total cost a future 2nd.
Hawks obviously in salary cap pain giving up Mitchell, Lewis, Hill and two first rounders and a second for TMitch, Vickery and JOM.
Looks like they are trying to entice Fyfe or Martin as free agents next year but think they will be up against it trying to retain Breust who's a free agent himself and was put up for trade this year. Hodge and Burgoyne retiring at that time will also be a big loss to their best 22.
Sounds like you have given up on 2017. Shame. You do recognize the contradiction in your post surely?
Giving up Sam & Lewy & losing Hodge & Burgoyne at the end of 2017, will mean we have ample cap-space to both accommodate Breust & sign a big-name F/A....Which - by the way - Won't be Martin....His personality hardly befits our culture.

Thought you could have had a good crack at another flag.
Bring in Vickery, TMitch, JOM and keep SMitch and Lewis easily.
It's well known Hodge and Burgoyne signed smaller deals to for one year so no big gain in cap savings after 2017.
SMitch and Lewis were only contracted until 2017. So why discard them now and not have a crack with them next year? And as you say also retire Burgoyne, Hodge and Gibson and start a new era.Gibson also....The 3 combined account for 1 $million, while Sam & Lewy accounted for 1.2 $Million....That's more than enough for Breust & a Gun or 2.

Retire them end of next year and have enough money to re-sign Breust and a FA gun for 2018.
1st and 2nd in the Hawks best and fairest this year would suggest they still have plenty to offer for one more year.Clearly we have accepted we're in a re-build phase....2016 was our last crack at it, with our current veterans....They've gotten too slow....Simple.
