A big couple of matches to consolidate second place and put us in the drive seat to qualification. First up Indonesia in Sydney where anything but a win shouldn't be acceptable. Than off to China to try and get an important away win. With 1 point separating 2nd to 6th these are crucial matches that will determine direct qualification or not any slip up and we may be done for.

Triantis and Teague good additions... but very surprised for no Balard or Irankunda.

A starting front three of Goodwin, Yengi, and Boyle looks ok but I'd rather Irankunda coming off the bench ahead of Arzani, or Borrello.

No excuses - both matches must be wins here or qualification is at real risk. I'd be nervous if we go 1-0 down in China that there's just no-one who could turn the tide.

Interesting squad selection, not sure if it makes us any more likely to score goals or get wins. Each round we're saying "2 wins needed here..." but we desperately need 6 points to almost secure our spot as I can't see us doing the business in the final round against Japan and Saudi Arabia.

Wild that Jason Davidson made the squad after not featuring in years, so unexpected his parents went to visit him in Greece

Getting game-time at a small club but top division of a European league... plus was a key player when Popa took Perth to the GF. Could get a start.

Would have loved to see a few Asian Cup U20 winners in the team.
Jovanovic was great. Badolato was decent.

They played some great football. Wish Popovic takes some inspiration from that and actually play attacking possession.
It's an uninspired squad - but if we get 2 wins I'll be over the moon.

Would love to see the youth over guys in the squad that we still think of as youth (like Arzani) or some of the old dudes.

I get the feeling we'll make some dramatic changes between qualifiers and the WC if we make it (like 2014).
