but he came from perth not port. IIRC he didnt last there very long either.

He didnt last long there because he was never associated with Port in any way. South and North he played with.

Stenglien was the Magpie from that 'era'. Only just missed out on playing in the 99 Flag through injury from memory.

Sean Tasker used to play for the Crows?
He was an original Crow with a strange history.

Sean Tasker as a youngster played in the South Australian amateurs as a forward, and moved to North Adelaide in 1987. Although he was North Adelaide’s leading goalkicker in 1989, he was utterly slaughtered by the brutal Port defence in that year’s grand final and benched in the second quarter. Even though North could only manage a single goal for the whole game (the first single goal score in the SANFL since the last minor round game of 1973) Tasker was barely tried again.

If you watch the 1989 SANFL Grand Final you would not guess coach Mike Nunan’s next move: switch Tasker to defence. I do not know when or how Nunan worked out this move: it seems unlikely from how uncompetitive Tasker was with the brutal Port defence that he would stop forward kicking goals. Nevertheless, it worked well enough in 1990 for Tasker to get on the Crows’ initial list as a defender.

However, Tasker did not prove up to AFL standard as a defender: he never played more than 13 games over the six seasons from 1991 to 1996.

I saw him in that game and an earlier win over the Bears during the "shortened" round three weeks beforehand and he did not seem that bad.

Hawthorn did play exceptionally well in that game - it was the last we saw of the great Hawthorn team of 1982 to 1991 before they declined for good if in a more gradual manner than their ladder placings suggested. They were really hard in the windy conditions - and it is on a very windy day that toughness wins out like at no other time.

Aaron Keating would have to be the worst Crows premiership player though. Managed to win a SANFL flag with Norwood the next week too!

That guy is a lucky talisman! He was only in both those games because others got injured, we might have won that premiership because of him.

We should draft him again for our next GF appearance, use him as the sub.:p

Hahaha Stuart Wigney! Classic.

Here's his rookie card, all $3.99 worth, and luckily for you, it's on eBay right now (if you dont have it).

I like how it shows him being beaten by an opponent (yet again).

Vintage Wigney.

Made the Prelim final team due to Pittman getting suspended and then stayed in the team due to Mods doing his knee. Very lucky indeed!

I haven't watched either of those finals in a fair while, but I can't remember Keating doing much at all to suggest that we wouldn't have got the same results with an inanimate carbon rod in his place! :)
